I tend to ignore these comments. There’s no chance in hell the NRL would make us merge. There’s plenty of clubs doing a whole lot worse than us, we’ve already merged and done the tough stuff.

PVL doesn’t seem keen on moving and merging clubs either, he’s more into expansion. Don’t get too upset by Freddys stupid comments

One thing Freddy is right about is the club ignoring Campbelltown. We could have a Penrith like juniors system and I think that’s what Hartigan will be trying to build for us.

I'd be looking at the Sharks and the Roosters first up, one has struggled for cash for ages and the other has struggled for supporters and juniors

I am an old Western Suburbs fan and use to love going to Lidcombe Oval in the late 70's and 80's. Lost interest in the 90's I have to say. I am fully invested in Wests Tigers. To me the NRL can not lose the classic suburbian grounds. Leichhardt Oval with 20,000 screaming fans cannot be beaten and the Campbelltown Stadium experiement has not really worked out like it should have. My favourite ground when I followed Western Suburbs around was North Sydney Oval. Love that ground.

Freddie played for Penrith and Easts so no surprise he would not want them to merge.

I personally think there are too many Sydney team and not enough talent to go around but I don't have a solution. Like most sports NRL has to constanly evolve with the times and compete for fans.

We have 20k members and we have the longest drought of any team for semi appearances.
Our COE is being built at concord we will be sweet and hipefully we lock down Leichardt Campbletown area and Homebush

if we were going boots and all into campbletown they would have built the COE out there anyway.
Wests Ashfield have control, we still have campbletown region anyway and teams take juniors in raids so its not all about junior base and we get inner suburbs too and holy cross etc.
Unlike some teams we have no debt to NRL and 20k members we will be ok

That would require investment from Governments. Oran Park was the locality where we could have gone to town creating junior teams, COE, field and club. But Greenfield localities are outstanding opportunities. However, I do not want our club to lose the inner west. There are so many good juniors coming from the Old Magpie and Tiger territories.
