Fitzy to Tigers - Cashmere looking to return to NRL

If this is our last signing for the off season it is a joke imo 3 steps forward 10 steps back more so with fitzy but would also say fulton's money would be best used elsewhere or saved in the bank

Fulton, Fitzhenry return to Wests Tigers
October 16, 2009 - 7:07PM

The Wests Tigers will welcome back Liam Fulton and Daniel Fitzhenry, with the pair re-joining the NRL club after stints in England.

Fulton played 76 matches for the Tigers from 2003-2008 before heading to the Huddersfield Giants in the Super League for the 2009 season.

"Returning to Wests Tigers has me really excited, there is a real buzz about our 2010 campaign," said Fulton.

"My time at Huddersfield helped develop my game and I'll return to the NRL a more complete player".

Fitzhenry returns after a two-year stint with Hull Kingston Rovers.

The Tigers have also signed winger Tame Tupou, who previously played for Brisbane and Super League club Bradford.

I doubt Fitzy will get a start in the backline unless we get a tonne of injuries, which going by the past couple of season, isn't that unlikely I guess.

I'm more horrified at the prospect of Fitzy snagging a permanent spot on the bench instead of somebody like Taumata, who would actually be useful there. 😢

How and why would he grab a spot ahead of any number of younger more able players already here. And don't say to mentor them,he was a master at the "charge in off my wing" and the "bad hands day". This almost counters the Tuqiri signing

I think you will find fitzhenry on the wing for Wests Magpies with a view to him returning to the NRL if injuries hit.

As a winger we could do worse in a time of crisis.

There wouldn't be an NRL club that would want him. He isn't good enough to be playing state cup. Who can remember one game where he made a total gain of like 6 metres?

Awful signing i doubt if he deserves a starting position in either our feeder clubs, completely inexcusable signing imo.

I'm not sure who could do worse than fitzy? Unless we bring back Kafusi/richter….

I'm not sure if he is even better than any of the magpies players that were playing this year, what I saw of them they seemed to be a bit better than my last memories of Fitzy. I like'd fitzy when he played in the premiership season, he played decently on the wing, but after that he was rather average. My only hope is that he comes back to state cup and he teaches a few things about training to the younger players....

Don't be FOOLED this guy will be in the mix for a starting spot …favourite son played crap and was selected every week .. we have younger guys in the lower grades with huge potential must be dissappointed my tip Fitzhenry to start season on the wing then to 1/2.. 5/8 as season progresses !

I cant really see the point of re-signing off loaded players, while Skando was a welcome re-addition, in a position where we were severely lacking…I cant see Fulton & Heighno in the same team...and Fitzy, well I dunno.
Im seeing a trend...I dont like it.

i reckon his just a back up player and has only been signed if an injury crises strickes. who knows tuiakis leg might be stuffed and he may need more surgery and time out so my guess is that its just a precaution incase anythying does happenn. regardless the recruitment team have been doing a great job for once in luring talented players to the club mainly due to the introduction of stephen humphries as CEO. i read an article when he was first signed and it said that he had the potential to turn the club into a powerhouse (bulldogs/brisbane sort of club). i dont think he has dissapointed as of yet. TIGERS 2010!!!

If we are after a utility type player who can fill most positions in the back-line we already have/had Taumata,Hanbury,Ayshford,Brown. Why bring Fitz back?

Fitzhenry is "back" up for Robbie….hopefully he won't get anywhere near the backline...........stay fit Benji.......

I agree Ink, although the Tigers look to be going for the cheap "depth" signings, as it has hurt the team in previous season when injuries have hit, maybe they think the extra experience Fulton and Fitzy offer may help. I wouldn't have either in my top 17 and it sounds like the top 25 isn't finalised yet so I don't believe Fitzy is part of it, but Fulton probably is. Both players would be of benefit to BRET and Wests though.

That is the way I see it too. And he may actually go alright in that role.
