Fixing the right edge

If I was coach of Wests Tigers this would be my first priority. I believe the left edge defense is also suspect with LG there but the right edge has been a rabble. So if we start with Mbye, Luciano inside of Doueihi is it going to be better than madden, Luciano, Doueihi? Maybe he’s gone with the first option as there is more experience and more talk around Luciano.

I’d be moving Luci into the middle, he looks too slow to defend NRL back lines.

Edit: just read an article indicating Doueihi to the left centre, BJ to the right centre. So right side likely to be Mbye/Madden, Luciano and BJ. Holy Dooley.

Can he fix the middle 1st where it all starts...

With the exception of the Manly game I think our middles have done okay, whenever teams go wide on us they have a field day. I get that we need to win the ruck but I’m seeing poor decisions and poor efforts, too much arm grabbing and no communication.

Our forwards have been outplayed all year.
We struggle to make meters & reason why teams find as much space out wide as they do is because the forwards don’t dominate in defense.
Our backrowers cramp inwards and most teams spot it and then spread which often gives 20m of open foot space on the edge with players outside our center/winger. Our forwards are never back to do the dirty hitups either. The work effort of our forward pack is very ordinary.

OK, if we solve the right edge shot-comings, can we also include the left edge deficiencies, the up the centre holes, the pace of the defensive line, and the minutes just before and after halftime.
Oh! And not to forget, supporting the ball carrier and offloads.

Yes they go wide because our middles lose the ruck rapidly in in those games so the attacking team can go wide as the defence is always retreating and not set outside and gaping chasms appear

Some stats I pulled together

* 29 Tries conceded in total (kick tries excluded due to element of luck)
* 14 Right edge defense caused try
* 9 Left edge defense caused try
* 6 Middle defense caused try
* 14 Luciano’s edge conceded the try ( moved from left to right edge for Dragons game)

Worryingly, in our last 3 games Luciano’s edge has conceded 6 tries.

What about stopping three tries within four minutes of each other. Last week there were also a couple of tries against us in a very short period of time, at least two straight from the 22 metres re-start. Our defense has been especially embarrassing against Cowboys, Manly and Titans. Anyone would be excused for thinking our players were almost sound asleep during the many moments these incidents happen.

Wake up WT players, stop loafing and some real tiger instinct!

I like Luc as a player however have watched him in all games and he is found out in defence. He is good with ball in hand however that is only 50% of the game.

Tries are definitely coming in bunches. In doing some analysis the wheels came off in short periods against Roosters, Canberra, Parra, NQL, Newcastle, Souths, Manly and Titans. It was usually a targeted attack down one edge or some well placed kicking.

Gosh, that's almost every team we have played this season. The question I would like to ask the Wests Tigers coaching team is why aren't they doing something about it?

I think it's been placed in the too hard basket

I think we should drop anyone who can't defend to an NRL standard..
