Flanno v2

I am quite happy with Flanagan's progress so far this year, and he is really showing good signs of improvement each game. But i am still struggling to find a place for him in my top 17 with Fulton really showing maturity and rolling up his sleeves so far this year.
Do you guys see Flanno only being able to offer the similar qualities as Fulton? Or do you think there is a permanent spot for him in the starting squad?

If sheens insists on playing with a reserve back on the bench, then Flanno should be it, not a winger

I like him, but i agree that we just cant have him in the 17 with Fulton. If Paytens back this week, Flanno would be the one i sack. I'd try Lui at 7 and Taumata on the bench for Fitzy with MacDougall on the right wing.

I almost feel as though WT are giving away too much size with both Fulton and Flanno in the same team.

You're right on that count CT. Flanno has only been used in the backrow this season unless I'm mistaken, and as far as backrowers go, he's a lightweight, as is Fulton, and the Tigers don't need, nor can they afford to have two lightweight backrowers in the team IMO.

I'd be looking at Simon Dwyer or Nu Akeripa, both guys have returned well from injury and are over 100kg, can break the line and have arguably more impact than Flanno.

He deserves his place in front of Fitzy,he offers more and cover quite a few positions.

I personally dont think akeripa has the skills to play centre, i like to see him in the forwards, big strong robust, when he gets fully fit again which is only a few games away ,he will be in first grade….

Any solid word on that tomcat or just a feeling at this stage?

I think Flanagan adds something off the bench. The problem is that Fulton, Ellis and Heighington are all 80 minute players so when Flanagan is on the field, the team looks a little small. I would use Flanagan and give Heighington and Fulton some short breaks. Even if its only 10 or 15 minutes, its a short rest on 2 very busy plaers.

I said he can cover centre. He'd be in the side as a backrower

I agree with this view. I have no issue with Flanagan on the bench if Sheens cuts the winger from the bench.

its just obvious to those who watch him

Flanagan
payten
fafita
Moors/cayless/shirnack

tell me whats wrong with that bench? Flanagan can be the utility and event though ellis fulton and heigno can play 80 mins whats the harm in giving them a 5-10 minute spell in the second half? just because they can play 80 mins doesnt mean they should

Wouldn't be the first time people were inexplicably not playing first grade though would it?

I agree with Flanno it is a very difficult one. Like Sirro I cannot see the benefit in playing he and Fulton in the same team. We just end up giving away too much size.

Two props, two impact back rowers or an impact back rower and an impact ball runner

For mine

14\. Andrew Fifita
15\. Alan Schirnack
16\. Willie Mataka
17\. Nu Akeripa

When fit Taumata could slot in instead of the 16 or 17 when deemed needed.

Mataka or Akeripa could fill in at centre if needed. In the halves Fulton can switch and bring one of the back rowers on.

I would not be adverse to the idea of playing Flanagan every x amount of weeks to rotate Fulton out and keep him fresh
