Footballing Robots.

When supporters stop turning up for home games , the almighty dollar will do some talking.
I would prefer to be beaten in the manner that Canberra were beaten this weekend than the tripe dished up by our team on the weekend.

Ironically it was one of Jason Taylor's first coaches who brought in the defence first policy. Warren Ryan
Sponsors need to tap it on the shoulder and tell him that he has got it wrong.soon.

For those that werent there and were a little fooled by what looked a more interesting game on tv.

The 2 adults amongst us called it the most boring game of rugby league we have been to. Any level any club.

By the end of the first half almost every single person in the crowd had discarded their free Wests Tigers TRY sings, i must have stood on close to 500 going to get a coke.

Come the 60th minute no one bothered to get to their feet when a back line spread was looking likely. We had seen it for 60 minutes already and it was more sideways then Benji, had no real impact and was basic under7's style looped passes, confusion and a panicked non thought out bomb placed at the end of it.

Then the Cowboys scored, a few people including myself dusted off our discarded TRY signs, held them up then walked off to the car.

Next time we are going for Gozlome and a movie.

It was just as BORING watching it on the tely TITG. Zzzzzzzz :frowning:

Doing my rounds at work, I popped my head in to say a quick hello to a patient that's a mad WT supporter and to see how the boys were doing. Well to my surprise, the patient was fast asleep and his telly was switched off. I didn't realise at the time that Boredom was the reason why he wasn't watching the game and decided sleep was far more exciting. LOL.

In last weeks posts about Robbie Farah and his average performances this year I put it down to having to play the negative and boring game plan that we are adhering to under Jason Taylor. If this system is a guarantee for success I can just about live with it but it is not and after being entertained by our style of play in the past this boring fare that we are producing every week is enough to drive even the most ardent fan away.

I can't believe that proper Rugby League fans, which I adjudge most on here to be, are OK with being bored to death so long as it brings success. In doing so, you are walking away from what made you a lifelong fan of this sport.

If as Happy said, the team plays ugly, dull, boring and uninspiring footy that brings a premiership in 2017 I wont be smiling I'll be embarrassed. I won't be proud, I'll be saddened…in fact another 12 months of this sort of football and I won't care if we win at all. I'm not alone thinking this.

Win ugly or lose pretty? Get stuffed...just get out there and play football.

I never said we would be playing dull football in 2017

I said I'm prepared to put up with some dull footy if it means winning premiership

So Stryker you'd be upset if we won a GF 12-10 or 10-8 with that ??

You just another lets play like 2005 and hope it works and maybe we will win 42-40 with more Benjiball , but when we have to grind a game out with a team who can defend we go to crap

I think the heat has finally melted your brain bro :deadhorse:

I'm nothing of the sort. I have always wanted starch in our defence. I have always wanted our pack feared. I have always wanted our defence to be respected.

What Taylor is doing is not providing this because….with the exception of Taupu and Sue, no other players have the mongrel in them. So what we have done is recruited great attacking players and then hamstrung them to teach them something most will never get. Our defence wasn't great the other night. An under 17's side would have kept the Cows under 2 tries.

BTW "bro" its really hard to take you seriously when your opinion changes so frequently.
Get your multiple personalities on the same page and stick to the decided convictions.

So you'd agree that respect has to be earned Stryker ??

Like attitude , attitude isn't doing it one week and then resting on your laurels

As Taylor said in the interview , he had played the WT's a few times and you took them on up the guts and you'd break them most times

This team wasn't going anywhere until it changed its whole mentality and it could take 12 months to earn respect , to set in place good structures that will help with our attitude help make us more accountable

People need to look at the long term at the WT's and I think JT is doing that

Multiple personalities you say

Go back and read a few of my posts Stryker

What do I bung on about ??

Accountability

Attitude

Respect

3 words that if they jumped on your face and wiggled you still wouldn't know or understand

Having a low scoring game doesn't mean a team is playing dull. We've all seen many low scoring rippers but when we play dull for the sake of protecting our against stats, that's just crap. Jt carries on comparing us to last year, but our injuries crueled that year along with the Grant Mayers determination to undermine our coach (along with Farahs determination for mine) and our year went from pretty successful to a complete disaster. Comparing both years given the associated turmoil just isn't possible. I really don't get why our team can't attack when they feel it's on.

I know it isn't pretty to watch , but if we have to put up with this for 12 months and start seeing the benefits then I can live with that

I know many care about what we look like , but I don't We win a premiership in 2017 and look as boring as watching grass grow I won't care a bit

Bring on the ugliness JT , but please just make sure we have a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow , to be sure , to be sure

Happy i can pretty much guarantee you would have a different take on this had you attended the game.
The fans who are paying like we did over $180 for a night out with tickets and dinner at the club are not going to be here in 12 months.

They will be lucky to last 12 weeks.

I understand where you are coming from TITG , driving 11 hours each way to watch us not show up for the Cowboys game wasn't fun

Two nights accommodation $420 , 4 tanks of fuel $340 , Tickets $150

You see guys like Aitken, Bird, Elgey come into grade and make an immediate impact, apart from Brooks' debut and Moses vs the Dogs last year, I honestly don't think they deserve to be in first grade yet, they just aren't consistently grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck. The examples above aren't playing badly and don't look out of their depth.

OK these are good young players you have named, but just how well are Titans and Sharks travelling? You watch a game or two where Jackson Bird dominates, you label him a rising superstar, but on average his performances are average and his team is not doing great.

We get the same thing in reverse, we have media people lauding Brooks and Tedesco, and we read every article and watch every minute of play, and don't necessarily see what the media is hyping up. So people are quick to say Sironen and Moses maybe need a run in reserves, when the same can be said of many young footballers going around.

Sandow for instance, he absolutely dominates NSW Cup, gets a recall and plays like a mug. The gameplan should not have had him at FB in my opinion, but they are trying to find some way to include such a highly paid player. You can't have a million bucks running around in reserves every week, that leaves you with about $12.50 for first grade.

I'm not sure I read this right, Birds performances are average???????????
If that's average, well I'll take him any day. And I have seen most of his games,
He's a hell of a lot better than our two Koala bears , and if him and our two kids were on the open market, I know who'd be in demand.

It's one thing to be blinkered about our kids , but if you can't recognise the talent that Bird is, then your football knowledge is severely limited. Bird has had a spectacular introduction to first grade, whereas our two are living off a reputation from previous years , which is rapidly running out., as is probably their value. Which brings into question, whether the money paid to them is going to come back and bite us on the bum in Salary cap problems if we have to recruit a new 5/8 or half down the track.
I'm sick of the excuses about them. They're in first grade and they will be judged on their performances in that grade , it's convenient for their fans to be able to blame Taylor for their crap games, but he's not out there making them throw bad passes and missing tackles( Moses game high missed tackles again in Cows game)

Have a lot of respect for your opinion Happy, but who says that this garbage is going to last only 12 months.
It already looks like half of this team is switching off from TAylor,
It doesn't take 12 months to change a defence pattern or an attacking one.
They are both pretty simple things. In fact , the simpler they are the better.
As you know the simpler things are , the less things there are to go balls up.
I ve heard all the coach talk that we get, most of it to deflect critism of JT ,
When a bloke like Taupau is starting to look disinterested, then we have problems. I

I don't mind seeing us play some ordinary football at times( I came from following Wests for50 odd years, so it's not new) but this club owes it to its supporters to at least try to attack as well as to defend. Taylor is patting the team on the back about our defence against the Cowboys. He has to be kidding, Thurston and Morgan would have cut us to shreds if they had played, and we still had 6 tackles missed by Moses( game highest)
the worst possible thing is to have someone in control who can't see or admit that something is not working, if therein no improvement soon . I hope Taylor can admit that he needs to go in a different direction. Cause we can't afford to get rid of him

Unfortunately as much as the tragics like us will probably keep turning up, keep posting on here, keep buying new merchandise. The majority wont, they will just stop and become uninterested.

Personally I think you are over-reacting to Bird, but you are entitled to your opinion.

Not saying he doesn't have some talent, but I'm not sold on him as the games next biggest talent and football careers take a long time to put together.

I'll tell you this: Jack Bird is NOT in the Top 20 for tries scored, try assists, line-break assists, line breaks, offloads or kicks in play. I know Bird is a few games short (7 played) but Brooks is in 3 of those lists.
