Thought id start a thread about urban myths. Wanted people to list theres
1\. This one irks me for no reason whatsoever. But I always here how Cooper Cronk and DCE were diamonds in the rough that were picked from obscurity to defy the odds and succeed in the NRL. This is so not true. Cooper Cronk was the best rugby player in the country, signed to the storm for huge dollars, went virtually straight to first grade won Dally M half in his second full year, played for Aus in his 3rd. He was always a star. DCE was a very dominate under age player, although it is true the broncos didn't pick him, and went with Hunt, they would have loved to pick both, but it was the first or second year of the anti-stock piling rules. He ended up at Manly was the best player in NYC, Had a year in QLD cup where he won the comp, was about the best player before going on to first grade. They were both always awesome and had a typical run to first grade like any other star kid. Such a myth
2\. I heard this about a million times, from heaps of blokes, Back in [insert country town] there is a bloke as good as [insert current star in same position] that doesnt want to come to town, Im sure there is a few out there that probably could kill it in the NRL given a chance.
3\. For every player that makes it, locals from that age group always say there was a kid better in that comp
loads more….urban legends are the stuff that makes pub footy talk great!
