I am a old Magpie Man Now Wests Tigers Fan.

I have 3 Kids. 8,6 and 3 years of age. They and all the kids their age with in this great club are our future. They could not care lesss about Wests /Balmain .They Love the Wests Tigers. They Love Campbelltown. They Love Liechhardt. So do I.

I am pleading to all angry, upset and bewildered Wests / Balmain Fans to just Move forward from all the Bickering and in fighting we are reading ATM.WE Merged 12 Years ago lets get over it.

FOR THE SAKE OF THE KIDS…...........

BTW i do not mean to sound disrespectful to the older fans.

Unfortunately Frazer, it's not that simple.

There is an awful lot of emotion tied into the goings on with WS and Balmain at State Cup level. That emotion will be there until the old guard die out.

One thing I take solace in is that in 10-20 years time, we will be a minority, and the new fans will only recognise one club: Wests Tigers.

Wests and Balmain are dead to me. They are not a part of the NRL and thats all that matters to me.

I could not care less about either side.

I am a WESTS TIGERS supporter, those living in the past need to get over it and move forward because they are boring the bejesus out of the rest of us. Wests and Balmain had their chance and blew it. Too bad, so sad. It was a fun ride while it lasted but those days are long gone. What we have been left with is a great alternative that is moving towards being a powerhouse in the NRL. Thats all that matters.

I was born in the Balmain area & followed Wests, & now i follow Wests Tigers, all i can say is get over it & lets support Wests Tigers.

I have been a Wests supporter for over 50 years. I now follow both the Weststigers and the Wests Magpies.

Tell me how you would feel in 40 years when/if they try to obliterate the current Weststigers. By your passionate post, you would be screaming like a stuck pig. Have a bit of understanding in regard to other supporters. It is not all about you.

While you have started this thread with good intentions Fraze, these types of threads also have tendency to steer off track very quickly as emotion takes precedence over commonsense.

So on that note, unless people have something of value to add to this particular thread, don't post. This thread will not be allowed to degenerate into yet another Balmain V Wests insult thread.

Your are correct,. willow. My intention are good.I do not want this to degenerqte into insult thread.

Sorry ,bud.

Feel free to close as i did not mean to cause divide,i wanted just the oposite.
A United Front.

All i can say is that ive enjoyed supporting the WT way more than i did Balmain…...we have a well coached, well drilled cleanskin team that plays the most attractive footy I have ever seen.

I couldnt be happier.......onwards and upwards i say!

Can I say this (along the lines of Simon ) that since Tim has taken over we have become the pride of the NRL and many clubs are envious of us

We are a well run unit on and off the field and as can be seen by out list of players the best of the best want to come and play for us

Our future is sound

As a ex Wests supporter I could never of hoped to expect to see Wests get anywhere near this level of professionalism on or off the field and I expect many Balmain and Wests supporters feel the same way

Lest hope in a months time when the Weststigers are doing what they do best, exciting crowds of people with their attacking magic that this distraction is either sorted out or disappears. Like I have said before, yes Iam sure their are problems like with any merger but its 2012 and we are now the WestsTigers so what ever is done lets make sure its best for the Weststigers because thats the future

…and i had been a Balmain fan for 20 odd years. Times change. I saw the merger as an opportunity to strengthen two ailing clubs. I appreciated Balmains success in the past but that chapter is over and has been for a dozen years. Its all about Wests Tigers now.

Passion is in ALL our blood through our support here for WT. we are all here posting on these forums because we support WT 100%. Some WT fans may be more aligned to Balmain & Wests than others.. You will expect that after generations following such clubs for decades. The function/purpose and viability of both Balmain & Wests football clubs directly and indirectly affects the success of WT both on and off the field. 100's of fans wearing old philips jerseys or old victa jerseys are showing their pride and passion for the clubs they followed since day dot. That doesn't mean that particular nostalgic following hinders the success of WT in any way. Issues and decisions surrounding NSW cup and leagues club funding ties into the operations of WT and these should always be kept in perspective by all.

I am very grateful for wests-tigers.

lets face it, put emotions aside, and from a purely business point of view, wests or balmain may not have survived if they went by themselves, and more than likely we would have no team to follow.
emotions do not pay wages, or make a successful business.
the product and people do.

respect the history of these great foundation teams. :master:
the foundations have been laid. ( by balmain and wests)
wests-tigers are the team which can and are building on this, too have a strong positive future. :sign:

wests-tigers are our team. :wahoo:

Well said Simon,
Coming from an old magpie supporter, I too have had more enjoyment since the merger.
I love my Magpies but believe me, those were hard years.

2012, THE YEAR OF THE TIGER.

Maybe you should have said," 2012 THE YEAR OF THE WESTSTIGERS."

I guess you could say I'm part of the new guard in that I only followed Balmain for a couple of years before the merger occurred (Despite living in Campbelltown). But even as a youngster, I knew something needed to be done to change things for both the Magpies and the Tigers. The Magpies were giving away free tickets at my school and no one wanted them. I remember feeling envious seeing how powerful sides like Brisbane, the Bulldogs and the Roosters were. And I could only dream that our club could reach their standards.

I saw the merger as an opportunity, admittedly the separate locations make things a bit difficult, but it was a chance for 2 clubs and 2 lots of fans to come together and get behind one club. It also provided the chance to start from a clean slate. I still respect the Balmain and Wests sides of the past and it'd be very sad to see either one of those sides gone. But the future is Wests Tigers and we need to do what's best for Wests Tigers. I'm not fully sure what that is but I believe Wests Tigers themselves are doing this in the best interests of the merged club's future.

And the future of Wests Tigers is what's most important to me.

I fully support you on this Frazer.

I read your similar comment in another thread and you mentioned how WT are the only team in the eyes of your young family. Well I have a 21yo daughter and like me WT are all she is interested in, not the Magpies which is my family heritage. So the positive future may be here before you think it will - in some ways it already is.

When the merger came it took me a little while but soon enough I saw the benefits of embracing the future instead of clinging to the past and I'm glad for it!

People should speak for themselves, and try to respect others views.
We are all different, our views may all be different too.
We all are free to make our own choices without others forcing theirs on us.
