With a premiership medal and a second Junior Kangaroos jersey in the trophy cabinet, Jacob Miller is focused on his next goal – the number 7 NRL Wests Tigers jumper.
Miller returned to training last week but off-season hernia surgery saw him resigned to limited duties at the team’s Wyong base.
“The surgeon says it should take about three weeks to heal before I can re-commence full training. I just did a little bit of work in camp but I’m itching to go again,’’ Miller said.
"Having had a small taste of the NRL over the past two seasons, Miller is determined to impress new Coach Mick Potter over summer.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge of trying to cement a spot in the NRL side,’’ Miller said.
“There is a fresh opportunity for me under Mick. I plan to work really hard over summer and want to learn more from the senior players in Benji Marshall and Braith Anasta. The hard work starts now.”
Now ineligible for the NYC, Miller is confident Wests Tigers will again be a strong force as they defend their title under premiership winning coach Todd Payten.
“There is plenty of talent there in the players backing up from the grand final side in Kurtis Rowe, David Nofoaluma, Matt Mulcahy, Manaia Rudolph, Brendan Santi, Kyle Lovett, and Nathan Brown,’’ Miller stated.
“You also have the likes of Luke Brooks, Mitchell Moses, and Manaia Cherrington who were members of the premiership winning Balmain SG Ball team.
“These boys are already training with the NRL squad so it just goes to show how much talent there is coming through at the Club.”
