Fullback - Impact and Value for Money

I tend to agree with other posters, we won’t get AJ to play FB on wingers pay. Could it be that wily old Bennet is listing AJ as 1st choice FB to add value to him? I’m still concerned about his knee issue, so I would sign him as a winger/fill in FB.

Never been a fan of AJ at fullback. However, a common metric on this forum is whether a player would make any other NRL squads in the same position.

I don't know if CT would. Mbye and AJ both have, and AJ with some regularity in a top 4 side. Really depends on the rest of the squad.

The Pom said yesturday him and Madge have had a few phone calls no meeting or anything so I can’t imagine he has signed or agreed to terms yet so no need to freak out yet haha I’d be glad if we signed him he ads pace and can score from any where on the field

7 of our 11 wins in season 2019 came with Thompson at Fullback 4 others on the wing ..in the 11 he started FB we won 7..he contributed in all of them..

Hi Geo, per Rugby League Project I count 12 starts at FB 2019, 7 wins 5 losses? Not much better than average, though better than Tigers' average, I grant.

One of my concerns however with this stat - 2018 Corey had 8 starts at FB, same source, for 2 wins 6 losses.

Perhaps you are only as good as your last match, but also, 9 wins 11 loses total at FB?

Shane Richardson once described AJ as a winger who could play fullback. That didn’t stop Sharks and Dragons wanting AJ as a fullback when Madge locked him up for 3 years at Souths. At that time AJ was Souths fastest clocking an incredible 10.2 metres in 1second. Has he still got it? He is only 25 but he has had a meniscus issue. His knee had no cartilage which resulted in bone bruising causing him to miss quite a few games. What the heck? Which 25 yo player is injury free.
