Fullback Recruit

Yes Tui caught that crucial 40/20 in-goal which led to the winning FG, and yes he's made a try-saving tackle, but are we really settling for that and defending him for those small moments? Those moments aren't going to be apparent in every single game, we need a well-positioned, hard running kick-return from our FB that can link with the OB's and sniff around the ruck. That's what drives throughout the 80-minutes, setting up the 6 tackles in-turn, leading to winning games. A small moment securing 2 points or 1 point over the opposition is not good enough. When push comes to shove, having the worst +/- in the top-8 is going to kill us.

Is this about Thompson playing FB again and Nofo up from reggies to the wing?

Pleeeease!!!!!!

At times Tui is looking like BJ Leilua trying to change direction back there.

Im a Tui fan but im not that impressed, injury or not.

Boy …. wish he was BJ. Then we could play him at centre!

If that happens and our games are as tight as they have been… we will lose games without a goal kicker.

Here’s the goal kicking thread from the loss against the Bronco’s. When Tui was out.

To think the Tiges have only lost one game, imagine the post after a couple of losses. I am really enjoying the Tigers apearing to have a no DH policy, hopefully I will never see the likes of Ben Barba at the club.

The bloke's one game back after a month off with a knee injury. People expect him to be carving up like Teddy did for us. Ridiculous.

He's goal kicking is winning us games. He saved a crucial 40/20\. He got us a 7 tackle set at a crucial time.

So he didn't make many meters in attack. Not a surprise when the Storm were targeting our wings in the air! How does he make metres if they don't kick it to him??? He's also not a winger going to bash out the metres coming off our line, that's not his job.

In terms of ballplaying it would be hard for him to know where to fit in with Benji, Brooks, Reynolds coming back. 3 different hookers playing. A lot of shuffling around and new combinations.

All good points but he got worked over by Cameron Smith.

Everytime Tui drifted to Thompson's side Smith kicked in between Tui and MWZ and had his quicker outside backs chasing . It exposed our lack of speed with those two.

Expect other teams will target it now.

Ouch, that has gotta hurt, Ivan didn't get the memo

And there it is Lolohea not in the 17 this week. Ivan saw it too no doubt.

Not just that support play was not where it should be….Thompson has shown a lot more coming from the back....

You would think with Nofoaluma dropped that players would get it. Like actually get it.

Tui seemed way too relaxed and way too sure of himself for his actual position. All the effort areas were down.

This is not about hurting - it's about picking the best FB. It's also about making sure you have the best kicker. It's also about having wingers that read the play and not guess.

Ivan is happy with what he picked, good-o, so am I then.

Tui wasn't reading the play at all and was caught out quite a number of times, and he wouldn't run the ball, and he still looks like he has a spare tyre

It may be injury, but Tui was less than ordinary last week - the few times he did run he trotted. He is kicking conversions well, which is great.
But the only thing that saved him from being harshly criticized in my view is because we won the game. Hope he gets it together because plenty seem to have faith in him, but wasnt surprised that he was relegated this week.

And he is still a better full back than Thompson who is a good winger.

He might be if he was fit, but on form displayed so far no chance

Cam Smith has worked over nearly every Team/Player in the last 10 years.
