Not sure how you win Dally M Rookie of the year being a dud..

If Brooks was at any other club he would have been dropped and sold off years ago.
Yes he is going good now, but he has taken nearly 100 games to do it, no other team would have waited anywhere near that long.
Tim Smith, Tasesa Lavea are 2 other halves who won rookie of the year and were duds

Really someone told me in 2015/6 Brooks had the worst coach to ever coach in the NRL…I thought in 2017 especially towards the back end Brooks was showing all the signs of being a very good NRL half...In 2018 many have him among the form halves of the competition...I'm glad Ivan was patient ...still only 23 and young getting all that experience a a young age..good to see..

Brooks start to this year was ordinary, I have agreed he is going good now, I even showed you dud halves can win rookie of the year.
Yes he had a bog ordinary coach for 2 years, but he couldn't pass or kick, let alone conttol a game, something a half should have already mastered by NRL level.
I don't get why you are still going on, I agree he is doing things much better now.
But as an 80 game NRL half he couldnt attract a decent contract at the end of last year like his 3 mates did

Brooks is playing great this year
He has been given the keys to run the team and taken it with both hands
In the past he had to deal with Moses trying to run the show
Tedesco trying to win on his own
And our captain made plenty of meters but slowed our attack with slow play the balls and lazy defence at times
All 3 who left are playing worse since they left
Brooks on the other hand is playing far better than he ever has
I think it's helped his game buy not having them there
He has more experience around him and Ivan seems to have gelled them all together
Our players this year don't seem to be trying to do it all themselves
They are all defending well and backing up each other
Our attack has seen plenty of passing and spreading the ball
Its now a full team effort
And we are getting results
The loss of our big 3 is no loss at all
If we still had them we wouldn't have the players we now have
They are the ones winning games
Well done Ivan and team

I’m a big fan of Tui’s potential especially at fullback. In the halves he runs across field too much and disrupts our go-forward.
I do concede though that he is a lazy bugger with an eating disorder. It must be frustrating for tigers training staff to keep his weight under control. My eyes popped out of my head when I saw him take the field after a few weeks layoff!
Whilst I see so much potential in Tui someone needs to put a rocket up him as he constantly star gazes and looks disinterested at times. We need him in the ruck looking for opportunities and to exploit the X factor that I believe his possesses.
If he’d rather stay home and watch re-runs of ‘Fat Cat & Friends’ then he can kiss the career goodbye.

Everything that you mentioned is probably part of the reasons that he is where he is, (and should stay until he wants to get real about being a professional footballer)
There’s not much difference in how He was at his previous club,
So what is going to change to make him this top class player that some seem to think he is.
This is a player that is as fat, lazy ,and Disinterested ,as he has turned out to be the same for two clubs in a row.
We’ve finally got a Coach that looks ,and acts like a real NRL Coach, so why does some fanboys ( and girls for the PC brigade ) want to question selections and replace players he has picked with a different one with the above problems,
I’m glad that there is now some accountably for attitude and form Congratulations I.C it’s way overdue
Leave him in the Reggie’s until he’s prepared to work at being a first grader, and he can be up to that standard in both attitude and Performance

Don’t forget, there is contract pressure on Brooks due to the Cleary Junior speculation doing the rounds.

This would be the biggest rocket for him.

It's very simple really, Tui has no fullback instincts whatsoever, Thompson has them in spades. It's what's best for the team.

That is my take on the season so far as well

Just like you have been saying for the last few years that Brooks is a dud.
:brick:

Mate, the entire league thought that. No one else besides us offered him a contract worth anything. After four years of glimpses of talent (one match winning play every four games) followed by indecision, hospital passes at the line and poor kicking, people had a right to. Brodie Croft at the Storm is a replica of early career Brooks.

Well Ivan must have seen something in Luke (even playing Taylorball) otherwise Ivan would not have offered him a contract.
I always thought that he was more a footballer than Moses, and now with RF and MM got he is starting to shine.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I always though that Luke would come good, marvellous what a decent coach can do even to DUD players.

Dont like to mention the RF as i know the reaction it causes but the type of game the RF plays only suits Luke Brooks. Its why Brooks will look even better now that Liddle is back.

Playing out the back and on an edge etc never did suit the kid. He needs the hooker to engage the line and he will follow in the middle. The RF was instructed to pass and not engage the markers

Im not one to argue or disagree with fellow forumers opinions, having said that, the point I will make about Brooks this year is,he is starting to play his own game, with a good coach and no big name players hindering or hampering his natural ability…..Admittedly I was always on about his hype, now I can only praise the guy for taking the game on and controlling the team around the ground....the last game against the Storm, when Benji was a bit off his game,Luke took over and had a blinder....
thats all folks....

I love the way he is playing. He will only improve now Liddle and Reynolds are back.

I had just about run out of patience with Brooks, thankfully Ivan came along as it was obvious Luke wasn’t buying into Taylor’s coaching.
Tui,hopefully he can overcome that niggle with his knee and get a little fitter,IMO he may be suited better to centre rather than fb.

I’d be signing Coote for next year. Has won a grand final and will still only be 29 next year.

Would probably have played under Cleary as well.

Coote has a lot of mileage on his body and he is not a big man. If the Cowboys thought he had more football in him I'm sure he would be signed up already.

I would be steering clear of Coote. Look at someone like Isaako or Pearson from the broncos, or have a go at Esan's brother who appears stuck behind Dufty, Lomax and potentially Sailor at the dragons.
Fullback pickings appear pretty slim at the moment, so hope that Tui adapts. Blokes like Will Smith are not the answer.

Exactly. The talent was always there on display for anyone to see but Brooks just never showed the confidence to own games and use what he had. In Potter’s second year he had some blinders despite having an average pack but once Moses came in his performances were stunted quite a bit.

I agree we should have punted Brooks and kept LittleJohn. LittleJohn or Milky or Moses on a Mill per season.

Hahaha

Hahaha Milky…..I can remember certain people on here being heartbroken when he got punted from our club! He didn't really set ESL on fire either in his time over there. Is he still getting a gig over there or has he retired?

Where did I say we should have kept any of those nuffies, you and a few others just make crap up to put the boot in.
I am glad we let those blokes go, I stand by my comments Brooks got a free ride he would never have got at another club.
I have said numerous times Brooks is playing good now, the last month, but before that he was over payed and over rated.
What is so wrong with those opinions, if Brooks had shown anything he would have had big money offers from other teams to move on like his mates did last year.
