Fullback!!!

We had an absolute gun in Shannon Gallant and the coach let him go. He could score a try from anywhere on the paddock and we have not had a fullback that could do that since.

This coach is a disgrace .

The sooner he leaves, the quicker we will become a top 4 force.

Thanks for continuing your vendetta Bug - I have said this before and I am now going to say it every time you do - Your Sheens hate is old and dull and predictable and soooo Boring - Either come up with something interesting or new to say or don't say anything at all

Gallant was so brilliant that he went to the Cowboys - one of the worst teams in the comp and couldn't crack a consistent first grade spot even when their regular fullback was out

I think it is time to play Brown at fullback if McKinnon is still injured because he is a horrible center

If McKinnon is fit then swap Beau and Brown - Beau into the centres and Brown onto the Wing

Moltzen on the Bench or if the centres if Ayshford is out

Has done nothing at Cowgirls either Bug . Fullbacks at the club should be in this order
1 MacKinnon
2 Brown
3 Beau
4 Mullaney
5 Kimberley the head cheerleader
6 hot dog vendor
7 Raffle ticket seller
8 scoreboard attendant
9 ball boy
10 Moltzen

I know which one on that list I'd buy a drink for, win lose or draw.

I won't mind Meaney at fullback. Everyone was there waiting for the ball to go in goal and he knew it was gonna hit the posts and waited for it to hit it and caught it. That's experience. We don't have a specialist fullback. Moltzen and Ryan are not. Brown is close but he is almost average at every position.

Meaney for fullback if McKinnon is unfit next week.

Don't have a specialist fullback? Ever heard of Mullaney. Meaney made way for Mullaney at fullback when he came up from the under 20's.

Why we persist with a coach who replaces fullbacks with halfbacks, wingers or anyone else but another fullback is beyond me. No extension for Sheens until we see how the season goes later in the year.

Magpiecol. Again Meaney was moved to add ballplaying to his game to make him an effective backup to fullback. He is a natural fullback and Mullaney needed to play there to improve enough to be considered for the position

Smeg I would agree that Sean Meaney is a good solid footballer, but the same as it is with Wade McKinnon he simply does not have the attacking brilliance to compete with the top class fullbacks running around in the NRL these days.
As Magpie Col has stated, we do have a player who is an attacking freak and given the opportunity there is no reason whatsoever why he can`t make a similar impact on first grade to what Nathan Gardner has at the Sharks, JAKE MULLANEY is who i`m talking about.
Shannon Gallant is a good little footballer and I was sad to see him go, Mitch Brown is good under the high ball & runs the ball strong, he does a good job at the back, BUT we need more, we need a fullback who compliments the attacking genius of Benji & Rob Lui and you will not currently find a better fullback anywhere outside of the NRL better than Jake Mullany.

I agree Mullaney is the best long term prospect Vicious but he needs time.

When a kid still talks about not being confident under the high ball in State Cup he will need time. He will get there though. He is a superior footballer all round than this time last year

I would agree the high ball is his only weakness, but he`s certainly not near as fearfull under the high ball as what Moltzen is showing us. I can tell you that Nathan Gardner was a winger for Parramatta u/20`s and very suspect under the high ball even playing on the wing 2 seasons back, it`s amazing what a little bit of confidence can do for a star young player on the rise! I think we need to show a little bit of faith in Jake Mullany and we will reap the rewards.

Quite possibly.

The other problem you have is that we are really a boys club in as far as the playmakers go. McKinnon is an established NRL player and made himself and his intent known.

Unless Jake is able to do the same he could end up being treated like Lazarus by Robbie and Benji and just destroy the kids confidence. At this stage he isn't even comfortable enough to ask the senior playmakers for help practicing bombs etc.

Coach Fletcher is getting more out of him each week and he is slowly starting to warm to even the physical contact in the front line ball running.

My honest belief is that another month of solid State Cup and confidence growth and he will be ready for the leap IMHO. Sheens is now talking to him alot post games and this can only be a good sign

I think Jake Mullaneys attacking style would fit in with and compliment Farah, Lui, Marshall beautifully.
I wouldn`t argue with giving him another month in State Cup, but he needs to be our fullback well before the finals if we are to carve opposing sides up at will like we did in `05 with Hodgo at the back. Making the finals might be the problem at this stage, but i`m quietly confident that we will start to turn things around.

Willow he`s stuck behind an absolute freak of nature in Matty Bowen. Very silly comment on your behalf, have you forgot the impact Shannon Gallant made to our team from fullback in `2009?
I think I recall Bonstonker or someone had a highlight reel, I`d suggest you have a look at that before mocking Shannon Gallant as a footballer.

mullaney HAS to be fullback. moltzen just ain't a fullbacks bootlace ! mullaney is young but good enough. dont forget he would have been playing against some of those young broncos one or two seasons ago.
moltzen off the bench and ryan to state cup are a must for next game
