G Burgess Eye Gouge

On the eye gouge, what I would have liked to see is Farah jump up and go over to Burgess and rip into him giving him a tirade mouthful, remonstrating, point to his eye and really take it up verbally to burgess. Given his obvious guilty action, Burgess would have just stood there or walked away....It would have made for great viewing and I reckon would have won Farah many fans.

He should have given him some free dental work.

Good morning @gallagher : being warned to be careful as all those welcomes WILL turn into bugger off very quickly 'suggests' to me you are 'most likely' insecure and therefore may be a bit of a bully. I have a neighbor who is a manly supporter and I guess believes in their motto 'we hate you to'. My guess is you come from the Balmain side of our partnership, therefore, you have every reason to feel insecure and I can fully understand your hurt and frustration, as I would feel exactly the same frustration if my Magpies were the junior partner due to a very unfortunate $$$ situation. But hey! Please let us all do this TOGETHER! This is OUR JUNGLE!!!😛oint_up: :v: :relaxed:

@tigerap
The NRL should seriously look at an automatic 12 week suspension (minimum) for any player referred directly to the judiciary no discounts this would eliminate a lot of crap out of the game.

Not at all mate. Im an old magpie and agree with your thoughts on Farah.
I was just having a bit of fun with the be careful comment as some on here get a bit prickly on that subject. Look forward to your contributions.

Totally agree Elderslie, but having played the game, there are plenty of ways to play hard but fair...I would give the 12 week suspension you speak of to any player found to have deliberately attacked the head of the opposition player, wether it be eye gougeing, headbutting, shoulder charging the head and deliberate head shots, even the crusher tackle on the neck and head,...Lets face it,even though accidental collisions will happen, you can nearly always pull out of a situation that becomes dangerous,as I said accidents will always happen in a contact sport..Its the players who want to go in and deliberately hurt someone that need to be woken up,giving them lengthy periods on the sidelines may deter them...

Some of you may remember Steve Linnane a halfback for St George in the 80's. In 1987 he eye gouged Greg Alexander and got 20 weeks...That was during a period where the game was less scrutinized for foul play compared to days game....So in an era where foul play is heavily scrutinised eye gouging goes from 20 weeks to 9 weeks....hmmmm

Pretty sure he was referring to you sticking up for that goose Jason Taylor.
If your support of him comes from the fact he once played for the Magpies, and your hatred of Farah because he came through the Balmain junior system then you have a problem.
That’s fine I suppose, I can understand the hurt and frustration you suffer from hearing the team continually being referred to as the Tigers.

Robbie did the right thing in walking away @tigerap. Retaliating with verbal abuse or violence doesn't make you a better person or someone to be admired. It just means you are as stupid as the person who committed the first act of violence. Robbie obviously didn't appreciate the eye gouge as it caused him distress and pain, to say the least, so why would you then cause the same to your opponent. If Robbie had thrown a punch it may have caused others to rush in which may have then resulted in a much worse situation for Us as well as Souffs.

G'day @gallagher : thanks for Your reply in clearing that up for me. So from one old Magpie to another old Magpie...have a great day and enjoy watching Our Wests Tigers tomorrow night followed by Our Mighty Magpies on channe 81@ 1pm on Sunday :v: :relaxed:

@MAGPIES1963 Fair points raised.....I guess what I was trying to say if Robbie made it clear to Burgess how disgusted he was at his foul play, because its rare for a player to act that way toward an opponent after foul play, it would reinforce how low his act was....but that's in soccer....not NRL

Is this a serious post or are you kidding?

Now fair dinkum @cktiger cool it dude...why so angry. You are incorrect with both claims re Taylor and Farah. I certainly don't believe Jason Taylor was a great coach for Us and I doubt very much that we will ever see him as an N.R.L. coach any time in the future. But on the other hand, I feel the Rorters would not have taken him back so willingly if they felt he was a goose. My thought has been all along that Jason knew when he became Our coach that Robbie had to be moved on to get some much-needed stability back in Our Club. I can't imagine any Balmain aligned person/coach being willing to do it for obvious reasons. So the only option was to get a non-Balmain aligned coach who had the strength and was prepared to take a battering from pro-Robbie people, in other words, self-sacrifice for the sake of Our Wests Tigers. Maybe I'm wrong cktiger, but that's what I feel and I will be happy to stand corrected if you can come up with a 'reasonable' point of view that shows otherwise.
I certainly 'don't' have a hatred for Robbie for any reason. Just being realistic about him. I reserve all my negative feelings for the Manly silver spoons.
No ckTiger, I certainly don't have any hurt or frustration from hearing Our team continually referred to as the Tigers. I most definitely feel Our Team should always be referred to by the proper name of Wests Tigers as I have addressed you by your full title of ckTiger, but names are always abbreviated, aren't they? So be it.

G'day @gallagher : I noticed you said you were 'an old Magpie' rather than an old Magpie 'supporter'. You're obviously still very much a Magpie and Wests Tiger supporter, but does being 'an old Magpie' mean you actually played for the Mighty Magpies?:v: :relaxed:

G'day :relaxed: @gallagher : sorry mate but I'm not up with some of the abbreviations on Our Wests Tigers Forum, hence LO =?
