If Aloiai is released after that kind of comment, he needs to resign. It would show how weak and full of hot air he is.

The Chairman is a clown. 3 times in 12 months he’s stuck his nose into contract negotiations. Twice he’s come out mid-contract negotiation with 2 marquee players, and run his mouth. Not saying he cost us those players, but he made the club look amateurish. And he still can’t help himself discussing James Roberts. He’s a moron. As for Pascoe, I’ve shared emails with him, he seems like a genuinely decent guy, but take pride in your appearance man. If not for your sake, the clubs.

Very ordinary comment.
Time to give yourself a nice little uppercut.
If you're so gun ho ..... go and tell them personally or is that too far from your keyboard.

What about my comment is incorrect?

1. The Chairman is a clown. - I assume your not one as it takes one to know one.

2. Three times in 12 months he’s stuck his nose into contract negotiations. - His nose is not stuck into anything that he should not be involved with.

3. Twice he’s come out mid-contract negotiation with 2 marquee players, and run his mouth. Not saying he cost us those players, but he made the club look amateurish. And he still can’t help himself discussing James Roberts. - see 2. above.

He’s a moron. - see 1. above.

4. As for Pascoe, I’ve shared emails with him, he seems like a genuinely decent guy, but take pride in your appearance man. If not for your sake, the clubs. - might agree on this one but.

Might be an unpopular opinion but I am sick and tired of these two and their love for being quoted in the media.

Pascoe, twice this year, for both Parramatta games give Nicolussi fodder to create 'rivalry' articles in SMH on Moses and Matterson, making us look as if we're talking tough prior to the game and then even more ridiculous when we lost (both games), and dont even get me started on us playing parra twice at bankwest AGAIN...

Hagipantelis, always talking big game about prospective signings and now talking tough in regards to Aloiai... (Dont get me wrong, both sides look bad in this situation). Guess what, no marquee signings and the only real result is continuing an ongoing media circus around the club

This is such a bad look for the club, I cant really think of many other clubs that provide this much cash-for-comment crap chasing media exposure, and the one i can think of was the Broncos last year, and we all know how that panned out...

I used to try and remain positive during these kind of situations, 'It'll blow over', 'I'm sure they know what they're doing' etc etc, but this neverending positioning of WT as a club unable to get a deal done, and as publicly as possible is past a joke..

We can blame the player agents etc for agitating, but the real professional clubs get the deals done behind closed doors without comment in the media, and theyre the ones that remain respectable. Our administration HAVE to start acting professionally, because it hurts as a fan only seeing this club in relation to controversy, as opposed to results.

You won’t get support on here, but you are correct.

But he also mentioned commercial advantage, in my view an invitation for Manly or Smith to come and negotiate. This is business after all and smart.

We're constantly in the media, targeted much more than any other club due to our large fan base. So yes they feel the need to make a comment on occasion to try and control the narrative.

And those who make any comments on Pascoe's appearance are just awful people. So he has medium long hair. So what, lots of guys do. Just because you feel this doesn't meet your standards is no reason to open your trap. Not every businessman has a short back and sides. It's his conduct and results that can warrant criticism from fans, not the length of his hair!

A few months ago I was reading some quite spirited opinions about how the Tigers seem to "just roll over whenever negative stories come into the media" and we should instead stick up for ourselves in public.

Now the club has Lee interject on bogus negative stories, some folks complain about the opposite.

Personally I think it's delusional to think that a club can control the publicity of difficult contract negotiations, when all player managers use the media as leverage. You can't control what the other party does.

The OP opined that "professional clubs get it done behind closed doors", which I find to be thoroughly without thought or research. Assuming professional clubs = top-performing clubs, let's take Storm, Roosters, Bunnies, Panthers as the Top 4 to think about.

Storm have spent all year trying to manage the JAC narrative, but it's out of their control because JAC talks constantly. Panthers are trying to deal with the Stephen Crichton "handshake" deal, not to mention constant speculation about their roster being picked apart. The Mansour departure has been handled poorly. Roosters are dealing with innuendo about Angus Crichton and had the whole Latrell nonsense last year.

Souths - possibly even the worst of the lot. James Roberts being released, Corey Allan reportedly offered up, ongoing Alex Johnston negotiations in 2020, sign-on of Latrell, the whole Suaalii drama.

If you think these Top 4 clubs have managed everything quietly in-house then you haven't been paying attention.

And these are the successful on-field clubs, the ones you assume have fewer challenges with roster satisfaction.

The stuff levelled at Pascoe re Parramatta games, I have no idea where that comes from. It's his job to talk up matches and get media attention, there's nothing embarrassing about it and it doesn't matter if you win those or not, he's trying to drive attention, clicks and crowds. Same as when Souths troll Roosters on twitter ahead of their clashes.

I tell you, the more people comment on his hair the more he will want to keep it. I reckon he's a contrarian, just like Aaron Woods was for years and years.

There is no way the club could be silent on this. Can you imagine with the "Ill never pull on aTigers jersey again" headline and the club just shut up? Tigers in Crisis next headline etc etc instead the club got on the front foot and the narrative and media has been very supportive of the Tigers which of course paints the club not on the decline but drawing a line in the sand.

This is well said. And very true.

Some people would rather bury their heads in the sand than have the club stand up for themselves.

Our Chairman is no clown-far from it! Pascoe seems, to me at least to be a pretty competent administrator and always responds to the occasional email. His general appearance of late could probably be improved though some of the most appallingly useless numbskulls I encountered in a long business career always looked like a million dollars.

You'd think the club would have learned after publicly playing out contract dramas with Tedesco, Woods, Moses, Farah, Cleary, Matterson and, now, Aloiai.

Anyone see a pattern?

There appears to be some internal issues within the club, sure, but at least the club is now trying to stand up and not be bullied or harassed into releasing players we didn't want to release.

That's (hopefully) the change here, if there's no change and we let Aloiai go without any advantage for us (and just getting rid of him as a negative influence is NOT good enough) then we are seriously pathetic.

Yep, we’ve won the PR battle now gotta improve the squad (the hard part for us)

I absolutely love the NFL, every little facet of the game plays out in the media, the good, the bad and the ugly. It gives fans something to chew the fat over. There is so much content.

Also, the teams that are struggling have a clear path to success by stockpiling draft picks and getting hold of marquee talent long term.

So we can control the narrative all day and win fans over with the PR spin but that’s only half the job, until we can find a way to win at the negotiating table, we’re just fighting a losing battle. For those who want to argue, we already tried the youth policy, had a rare glut of talent come through and lost them all. Except the gnome.

I used to absolutely love the NRL, not so much anymore.

This is the funny thing. This is what it's like having someone working closely with the club and putting in money and influence.

I don't really care that these guys are in the media. I'd like to see a winning team. Hopefully Lee's presence helps over the longer term. We are clearly a mess but has the club been doing the wrong thing in these situations. I mean we went for JAC and Latrell. We've signed up Laurie and we got Blore and Talau out there for us for the moment at least. AD and LL have been good signings. I don't see us stuffing up the Aloiai situation that badly. As I see it he just made a play for the maximum money he could get. I think under the salary cap you got to let players like that go. Paying the reported figures sounds stupid.

I am all in favour of the chairman or CEO defending the club but in regards to recruitment they should remain silent and leave to the people that are responsible for it.Neither of them should have anything to do with it

As long as your ar** points to the ground LM & JAC were never coming to WT'S we were used quite successfully as a tool for their own purposes and from whats being said now its not going to happen anymore and until we clear our excess baggage not much is going to change unfortunately.
