Galloway looking forward to pre season
Keith Galloway is looking forward to the 2013 season.
Not only does the big prop forward want to make amends for the team’s “disappointing” season in 2012, he also wants to get his name back in the frame for representative selection.
A big part of that, he admitted, is to work hard in the pre season, to get his body right after playing with some niggling injuries for large parts of last season.
Galloway had minor surgery on his foot in early September to re-attach the ligament that connects the big toe to the ball of the foot- a condition known as “turf toe”.
This was after he first suffered the injury in round one and admitted that it continued to bother him at different stages of the season.
Galloway said that the surgery went to plan and now it’s all about recovery so he can get back to full training by Christmas time.
“The boys we’ll start their pre season in early November but I’ll be training just as hard inside in the gym on the machines and doing some swimming etc,” he said.
“Pre season is always hard but it’s a good time to work on your fitness and your strength and get it as high up as you can before the start of the season.
“With the new coach (Mick Potter) coming in I think everyone will be out to impress, prove that they’re a leader or just show how much work they’re putting in each day.”
With the toe injury now on the mend, Galloway said he is extremely keen to hit the ground running in 2013 so he can put his name back in the frame for representative selection.
“I didn’t get to play any rep footy this year which was disappointing but I’ve got to get my form back up and get my body right. If I play to my potential then I definitely can put myself in that position to be picked for those sort of sides.”
