Galloway still in Doubt.....

One media outlet on their 11am news said both Galloway and GIBBS are a chance of being fit for Sunday. Surely Gibbs must be long odds to play although I expect Galloway to play for sure. Maybe the Gibbs thing is just a smoke screen.

Pffft …Media if you want accuracy you need Facebook....

BRYCE GIBBS....knee feels like it is getting better...

Maybe they want to keep the Media away from GIBBS V BURT Rd2....

I'm not saying he is soft but i think he could have played the Panthers game if he was like our Iron Men Highno or Ellis .
Take Chris Lawerence for example , he had a similar issue if not worse but he was on the field and not a liability either.
Health comes 1st but i think KW was given the choice and he shy'd away from the Panthers game .. They were a bigger pack afterall ..

You're deadset kidding yourself. The club has STRICT protocols to follow when players suffer concussion. Galloway was still suffering from headaches on the Saturday afternoon prior to the Panthers match. It was a smart decision to rest him and to suggest he shied away from it because the Panthers are a big pack is pure garbage and nonsense.

People have got to remember big Keithy was knocked out a few weeks ago at Leichhardt as well. So it was his second bout of concussion in the space of 5 weeks is a great deal of concern. I think you'll find Canberra have rested their resident kamekaze pilot in Josh Miller for the same reason. The head and the brain are too important to dare risk.

headgear protects bones and flesh - not the brain inside them!

No the skull protects the brain… would it stand to reason... by protecting the skull you are also protecting the brain?

concussion is caused by the brain hitting the inside of the skull - headgear can add to the impact!

Headgear scientifically has not been proven to protect from any major concussion as it doesn't attenuate the impact force enough, however it does not add to the impact. The force is generated by the head accelerating at a speed to fast for the cushioning effect of the cerebral fluid, hence it hits the skull. The weight of a headgear does not play a role, and as it is outside the skull the density of it does not play an impact. Its only concussive effect is on soft force injuries that may be beneficial in someone susceptible to concussion (as galloway is currently) but this is still a bit up in the air whether it does.

So, probably wont make a difference in a game of rugby league to prevent from concussion as not many hits don't have much force, but it definately does not add to the injury likelihood.

You are right in that it protects the face and head from abrasions, cuts, wounds, and partially from fracture.

i love how you're all sitting here on the forum posting about how galloway should have played
I agree with the ones saying if he could have played he would have
and that concussions are not to be taken lightly
you guys really gotta stop unnecessarily criticising the team you all apparently go for!!!

Concussion is serious I rather Kieth give it a bit longer …wake up coach and bring up Moors.

Yeh ill go with that. Not only is it serious, but it can ruin a career mentally. It took a while for KG to get over the Hopoate hit, im really afraid he could struggle to regain his best after the last few hits. Look at Shaun Valentine, he had to retire after a few concussions. I honestly have concerns about Keiths future.

Don't even want the bloke, even old Skando's doing better ATM. Did anybody pick up on why Galloway got dumped on his head? Bad body height, and when your lumbering at such a slow pace your easy to tackle, I'm glad the Souffs player wasn't penalised. The filth he served up against Cronulla is still fresh in my mind.

Galloway has played with a broken foot and been our best go forward man….......he has played with a broken hand and been our best go forward man............so............the only filth here is your post

im guessing the same ppl calling our players soft for not playin after concussion are the same blokes that never have sick days.. and never go on workers comp… otherwise that would be very hypocrital wouldnt it...
clubs have a duty of care.... you send players out after head injurys they are a huge risk to further damage and opens the game to law suits...

60 Minutes have a segment this Sunday on head knocks in football and the damage caused…

Lord of the Rangas, what a classic title!! Sauce is a tough player who gives every effort to the team. I hope he plays against Parra but his health is more important. Can't wait til he is fit for the big games ahead, he will aim up. If needed Moors would be a good replacement compared to Flanagan whose form hasn't been that great lately.

Galloway is massively tough and has played on with concussions, broken feet, broken hands and busted hamstrings. The guys injury time is probably compunded by the fact he will play on injured. He has always played himself into the ground. I don't like the fact that he takes so long to come back to the field, but he always pushes himself during the 80 minutes to ensure the team isn't short-changed, unless he absolutely cannot carry on.

Outplayed by Bryce Gibbs for most of 2010, its time now for Big Sauce to make his mark.

Tauted by many as a State Of Origin hopeful for 2010, he has been outplayed by Bryce in almost every department (Except on field discipline) this year.

Bryce's athleticism in defence has got us out of some tight situations and he has made some great yards too !!

Keith Galloway has to step up to the mark and play with passion and aggression. We need him to play his heart out like his life depends on it, because quite frankly at times he looks like he is going to fall asleep on the field.

For mine, this is his most important game since joining the club.

Its time you earned your coin Sauce.

Get out there and Kill them. :righton:
