Gareth Ellis to quit Wests Tigers

This is really sad news. He is one of our best.

Disappointing news but it is Gareth's decision and he has put his family first, can't argue with that. Let's hope he has a big year and is one of the reasons why we go so well in 2012, then heads home and enjoys the rest of his life with his family, many thanks to him I say :sign:

What a freaking shame, but it was bound to happen. Hopefully this gives the boys extra motivation to step up a gear and win the premiership.

To all our wonderful banner-makers out there…...."do it for Garath boys" at each game ?? or something along those lines! I am so sorry he is going 😱pen_mouth:

The Ellis army is going to miss him. He has brought a lot of pons to the game I know of 4 guys that support the might tigers because of him . Thank you Gareth your a class act

I wonder who could replace Ellis in 2013…..hmmm.....I got it a fellow by the name of Gibbs currently playing for Cronulla, he'd be ideal!!...just joshing.....really Ellis will be sorely missed...a nicer fellow you wouldn't meet and the fact he has won the WT player of the year award every year he's been with us speaks volumes about the bloke and what his peers think of him...I wish him all the best and hope we can send him home with an NRL premiership! :sign:

A shame to see Ellis call it quits a year early, he's been an invaluable signing for the Tigers and really helped stiffen up the Tigers forward pack. All the more incentive for the Tigers to send him home a winner at the end of the season.

As for his replacement, well I'm sure that will be discussed at length elsewhere, but with Ellis, Tuqiri, Moltzen and a couple of others off contract at the end of the season, the Tigers could end up chasing another high profile signing for next season.

In my opinion he would have to be one of our better signings.I'm going to miss watching him play next year but at least it's all sorted now & gives us plenty of time to replace him next year.

I can sense another comeback from skando.
For 2013.

Sad to see te big guy go, but family is important and our club prides itself as being a family club (even though we let gibbo go, and punted o'neill a year to early).

Hope he has another cracking year. Big boots to fill, great bloke, very honest hard working player. Will be missed.

at leats we know now rather then halfway through the year… also he will be 31 by next year he might be past his prime by then it might be the perfect timing to let him go.

Sad about this but at least he is heading Home amd not a rival NRL Club.

For me on of the modern day Legendary Wests Tigers.

Hope we send him out on a high

Shocked to hear this, but family comes first.

Good on you Gaz, loved watching you play the last few years.

Let's hope 2012 is even bigger and better!

Disappointing news to read that Gareth is going to pull up stumps at the end of the year but all in all we've had a great run out of the Rhino.
It's a great move on Gareth's behalf as he can still squeeze in a couple of years of ESL before the body says enough's enough and I do recall reading somewhere that Gareth expressed a desire to end his career at his home town club the Castleford Tigers, a premiership in the NRL in 2012 and help rebuild a famous club for 2013 and beyond, just like a famous Cas predecessor in Malcolm Reilly!.
The sort of thing that boyhood dreams are made of, dreams do come true if you believe, have a big one Gareth!.

It will be a sad day at the end of the season when Ellis can no longer play with us. He has been our best buy to date by far. Ultra-professional and top level talent.

The fact that Ellis has won best player 3 years running over competition such as Benji,Robbie and Lawrence says it all.

Hopefully goes out on a high.

We have plenty of cash now but who could replace this guy?
