Gareth Ellis

The bloke is a winner. His record proves that. Great for us. Maybe Ivan can entice him back to warmer weather and a forwards coaching roll.
Well done champ. Our game will miss you.

Did you read the post from Hull? Always good to read previous posts before adding I think Lol.

"Ellis will stay with the club after retiring from playing, taking up a new role on the club staff, working alongside head coach Lee Radford, the club’s Executive Director James Clark and Player Welfare Manager, Feka Paleaaesina.

It’s an exciting opportunity that the former Great Britain international will relish."

It's sad that he's not really remembered in the NRL outside of our supporters. James Graham and the Burgess' get all the accolades when the topic of Englishmen are brought up. Ellis is a bit of a distant memory.

He spent less time here and didnt make a GF.
Three good years but his fourth was forgettable which probably doesnt help.

Not entirely his fault, we should have made the GF at least once of 2010 and 2011, the team was good enough. And really, the 2010 prelim against St George was the true GF, just like 2005, the winner took the final in a cakewalk.

our best 4 years in a row in the history of this club- "coincidentally" the years that gareth played with us..

he's everything the tigers needed and more. it was all downhill after he left.

well done legend

Class player, one of my favourites that have played for Wests Tigers. Enjoy your retirement, Gareth.

I have 2012 as one of our worst, but no fault of Gareth. I went to our last game just to cheer him on one more time.

we definitely underperformed but objectively a #10 finish is still one of our best ladder positions unfortunately

Gareth Ellis was a champion player, hes the kind of player we need. Great hole runner, him and Dwyer were Benji's go to man

I rate Gareth Ellis higher than Sam Burgess. I reckon he had more to his game than Burgess does.

Sabre, I agree.

Don't think Burgess is fit to lace up his boots.

A great Wests Tigers players. Missed him a lot when he returned to England. A champion no doubt.

The good judges such as Gus, Sterlo and Joey always mention Gareth when they are asked about the best Englishmen to have played over here.

That game still burns me….cheap shot on Lote should've given us the penalty to kick for goal and Boyd had a shocking play the ball which was let go......

Top player and enjoyed his time here but I've always felt a bit cheated that he only played the 3 years with us. Homesick I guess.

He seemed like a smart bloke. Always wondered if he knew something had turned rotten at our club and he wanted out early…....things really blew up the year after he left.

Got over the line in his final home ground appearance, what a legend.
