Geoff Daniela - Confirmed

Meh..

The hopeful scenario is that he saw the writing was on the wall at Penrith and realised that there wasn't any room for him there with the wealth of backline talent at the club and just came to us cut price to work hard for a shot at first grade.. hopefully. I really hope we didn't pay overs for this bloke.

well can anyone explain this one? where is he going to play?? we signed to champion wingers for next year wohoooo one of them will miss out on First grade what a shame

our big signings are always reserve grade wingers

Robert Miles Nick Youngquest anyone?

lol Youngquest didnt even get a game last year soo dogs bought him

I think this is a shrewed signing by the club. A promising player who is most adapt at wing though can play in the centres and at fullback. Very quick, strong and can finish a try. If the sole reason he is brought to this club is to play outside Ayshford instead of Ryan its a good move.

Well, we can probably kiss Inu goodbye then. daniella had a shocker the other night against the rabbits. who knows - could be good, maybe?

In the game against Souths, Penrith had a reserve grade team in. Maybe, his performance should be over-looked on this basis.
Surely, he is a better prospect than Ryan and from what I have read in other posts, a possible full-back?
If he has not cost heaps, he may be a good buy.

Daniela made his debut in late 2006 if memory serves me correctly as a young kid coming through the ranks at the prosperous junior nursery and system at Penrith, so the 'potential' has always been there. I like the look of him. He's light on his feet, has great speed and from what I've seen can hold his own. I'll reserve my judgement until he runs out in 2010 for Wests

Can't wait to see you blow up when they announce Fitzhenry's re-signing.

Hmm not really fussed, he's good young player but do we need another winger??

To me it just looks like we're just trying to pick up any scraps still remaining on the market no matter what position they play.

Ive hardly watched this guy over the last few years but I can tell you at schoolboy level and junior reps etc this guy had the biggest step, or should i say was the quickest on the feet than anyone in his age.

looking forward to seeing him with us.

I think if anything it will add depth to the club in the centre/wing/fullback positions. All depends on what money he's on I guess

I think this guy is a great signing, he reminds me of Whatuira in a lot of ways as a player

With loosing Tagive, Collis, Halatau, Morris (which could mean Moltzen/Ayshford playing in the halves) and with the injuries experienced by our outside back this yr such as Lazarus I think this was an area we needed to sharpen up and as Toupu is still a big risk injury wise (although for the price no problems)

Great signing

This signing at least puts the Fitzhenry rumour mill back on the shelf…...........this is a good thing!

He looks like a lively and pacey back, he will be a welcome addition to our team.

I think he's seen as a centre, thats where he played as a junior, and hasn't got much of a chance there at penrith.

He was a very evasive player when he was playing in schoolboys, I think he will be coming for a lot cheaper than Collis and should offer more (no inside knowledge, just a guess).

Anyone know how long he's actually signed for?

I think its a good signing, but I'm hoping we've stopped with the 3 year contracts and only gone with 1-2 years.

Will watch him a bit more and see how he goes for Penrith for remainder of season.
the club see that he will be good for wests-tigers in 2010.
like stated earlier, wait till he has played a few games, then make a judgement/call.

We can only hope Daniela turns out to be as good as our last Penrith poaching Paul Whatuira who looked average at Penrith and then kicked on when he came to us…

Overall our record is pretty poor though, just off the top of my head:

Bad backs signings:
Miles, Rieck, Youngquest, Moodie (2nd time around), Lolesi, Byrne

Good backs signings:
Hodgson, Whatuira

50/50 backs signings:
Hanbury

Total:
Good: 2
Ok: 1
Bad: 5
