Gibbs

The way some people are carrying on you'd think he was the best prop since Beetson.
Let's be honest - he's no more than a run of the mill firstgrader - not a superstar.
It was sad to see him go because he loved the joint but he was becoming injury prone and gave away a lot of bonehead penalties.
It's about time to get over it.

Whatever. Gibbs is a much better tackler than Beetson ever dreamed of being, but the game has changed so much & the fitness level of a prop these days is beyond comparison so your argument is pointless . We have lost a very important junior that we have not successfully replaced.
As far as injury prone goes, Gibbs played with so much passion & needles he often played with problems other team mates took time off to repair. He is a champion & I to am very sad is has gone.

Run of the mill first grader? geez some people have no idea about footy.

he's pretty much THE best defensive prop in the game.

combine our end of season run last year (10 from 11) and the fact he's played in near all of cronulla's wins (he was injured in 3 of their losses) and you've got a bloke who's been on the winning side for about 80% of his past 20 games.

that's not a coincidence.

gibbs was the leader of our defensive line. defense is 50% of the game. he's not a great attacking prop, but he's a hell of a good defensive one.

x 2

We have no defensive line speed anymore and we don't win the wrestle .

We would be at our worst the the most ineffective defensive side in the NRL and at our best barely top 8 defensively

Don't worry Gibbsy , I would take you back in a heartbeat

Mankini and all

Blair, Galloway and Woods are all averaging more tackles per match than Gibbs, albeit stats don't measure effectiveness. Accept that Gibbs is a very good defender, but you need to offer much more dynamism as a front rower these days in attack than Gibbs was providing. Having said that the bugger just got MOM…......lol
