Not complaining but …

It cost us in round 6 v the knights
We lost 18-16
2/3

It cost us in round 7 v the Storm
We lost 19-18
1/3

Goal kicking is pretty poor this year especially at this level .
But we've always been blessed over the previous years with Hodgo , Benji & Richards .

re: the storm game, Rankin kicked 3/5, Cam Smith kicked 1/5\. They scored 4 tried to our 3 - it wasn't goalkicking that lost us the game.
The Knights game is a different story, but we shouldn't have to rely on kicking goals to beat them anyway.

I couldn't care how many goals Cam Smith kicked ( who cares) !
One more conversion from Rankin would've netted us 2 points :unamused:

Not every close game is won and lost on goal kicking. Unless a kicker misses one from right in front that costs his team the game, you can't blame a goal kicker for a close loss.

Goal kicking is crucial in the modern game , between Moses and Rankin they've missed some sitters our mothers would've slotted over .
Not good enough !

Do goal kickers ever improve substantially? They seem to either have it or not.

My memory of Moses in the 20s is that he was a pretty good kicker, certainly better than he has been for a lot of this year. I've always assumed he had a niggling/underlying injury this year - niggling hami or something. I also assumed that is why some weeks Rankin has kicked. All pure speculation on my part, but he didn't seem to have much power in his kicks earlier in the year. Seems to have his power back and improved accuracy lately too.

Its funny that Moses kicks one from the sideline but misses from near in front

Benji was always like that too. From in front you watched his attempt through your fingers but were usually pretty confident in him slotting them from the sideline.
It is just so important to be kicking goals at a high percentage. Can't remember the last time a team won a premiership with an average goalkicker.
