X there is no evidence whatsoever in the bible that December 25th was the birthday of Jesus Christ.

As for your question re which fool made this day up, if you do a little research you'll find that it was Julius the 1st who decided upon this date in the year 350AD.

well, its definately not the reason i celebrate xmas - how many people know Julius.

As for blind faith in the Bible you gotto be kidding, Read it and if the fulfilled prophecy it will blow your mind especially as we see it in this current day.

I have read it mate. I actually took an even keener interest once I realised that religion was not for me. I started listening to the gospels and couldnt believe my ears half the time. I'd look around the congregation and think wow everybody is eating this up - no questions asked! Your right, that did blow my mind.

There is some SAVAGE stuff in there, such as God killing women and children or striking down first born sons etc…. There is some FUNNY stuff in there like talking to the burning bush, the creation of the ten commandments, Noahs ark etc...There is some very SILLY stuff as well like parting of the red sea, adam and eve, cain and able, jesus walking on water etc....

Having said all that, there are some worthwhile teachings that make sense and I dont begrudge anyone from following them.
However I maintane that if you believe even half of whats writen in that book your operating on blind faith.

If you are wrong about christianity it doesn't mean nothing will happen to you after your body dies.

No-one here can say 100% for sure the world came about this way or this will happen after we die. Hypothetically lets say I am totally wrong about christianity what have I lost? Nothing I would have lived a pretty good life and nothing would happen after death. If I am right I will get to live eternity with God in heaven. Seems like a pretty good deal to me. BTW for the sceptics I suggest reading a book called 'The case for christ' by Lee Strobel or ' The reason for God' by Timothy Keller.

Just noticed this thread. A couple of points:

1\. On the 25th December thing, it is my understanding that it was a pagan festival which the early followers of Jesus replaced with what we call Christmas. No one correctly understands this as Jesus' birthday and uses this as evidence of anything at all.

2\. There have been some comments on the age of the new testament writings. As far as historical documents go - writings are measured by time after the event they were written, and number of agreeable copies. Remember there were no printing presses back then. The Gospels 40-80 (give or take a few) years after the death of Jesus combined with the number of copies scholars have which are "the same" compares incredibly well to other historical documents which people do not doubt. To the first sentence, yes I see no evidence to believe in any other religion either. However, the point of Pascal's Wager remains, you stated "Hypothetically lets say I am totally wrong about christianity what have I lost? If I am right I will get to live eternity with God in heaven."…there is the 3rd option of you believing in the wrong god, which means if there is one and say the Muslims are right, then we're all going to the same place.

To the 2nd sentence, evidence is a lot more scarce about Islam, Hinduism etc? how do you figure? Hinduism has been around long before Catholicism.

We're in a Western country, the Judeo-Christian religion is the more well known. If someone brings up another religion here, it'll be questioned.

i found him annoying in that video. i definately dont believe you have to have a religion to have morals. he was also basically saying that we shouldnt say that any religion is wrong (even if it is) because religion makes people better people. i strongly disagree with that.
