Good enough for a serious team

So apparently getting rid of our greatest ever player was supposed to usher in an era of dominance, well so said the illustrious brains of this forum.

Yet here we are.
And there he is.

Bring him back

He had a good job offer in marketing the brand but he wanted to play on and WT did need to move on. It is what it is and I'm pretty sure the job offer is gone now too.

Benji ended last year strongly and he was in top 5 for try assists for the year. We would've been bottom 4 if it weren't for him.

That being said, he is not part of the solution for us anymore. He dug his own grave when he decided to move away the first time and I don't have the same affection towards him I did in 2011.

Time for everyone to move on.

Im not making a case for Brooks, merely responding to tig_prmz making a case for Benji on the basis of TA. All of a sudden it is the most selectively utilised stat.

I used that stat to back up my analysis of Benji being an attacking weapon last year. He was even leading the NRL before the last 3 games.

Kinda my point. So your point and the reason for using the stat is to show that Benji was "an attacking weapon"? That would make Brooks a.........

The problem is not that Benji left, it's that we didn't sign anyone to replace either his of Josh Reynolds place in the squad leaving us with no real alternative to Brooks in the event of injury or loss of form.

A major failure in recruitment in my opinion.

If Benji is able to go well at Souths, because of those around him, imagine how good Brooks would be there - or almost any other club.

I've been fed up of Brooks too, but I think we are more the problem for him than he is the problem for us.

His inconsistencies are hidden at souffs thru there forward pack and there star backline....

And only playing 10/20 minutes a week is a big help

Serious question.

These are the scores last year the rounds we played Sans Benji.
Vs Raiders 6-14
Vs Cowboys 36-20
Vs Bulldogs 6-34
Vs Penrith 12-19
Vs Rabbitohs 18-10 (Benji played off the bench)

Vs 3 top 4 sides we (final finishing positions)
Conceded 41 points. And Scored 28.
Difference of 13 points.

Now the knock at the time was we weren’t creative enough without Benji.

This year we have had
Vs Raiders 12-30
Vs Roosters 6-40
Vs Eels 22-36

Conceded 106 points. and Scored 40.
Difference of 66 points.

This is the same coach mind you minus Benji.

Now last year it appeared Benji Killed our defence but boosted our attack.
Why is every thing in reverse this year?

Secondly to that, where did that defensive effort against those 3 teams last year go?

If you remember he has left Wests Tigers on three seperate occassions;

To Saint George.
To Broncos (Bennet coach)
To New Zealand Super Rugby

He was sacked form each of these teams.

Who cares? We had a number of games last year where we scored plenty of points and still lost. Benji was a part of the problem in defence.

Seriously are people ever going to get over Benji. He is playing well in a team where he doesn’t have to be the main guy. He would be nothing for himself or us here.
