Great night @ the footy

I am of the mindset that we can not win the comp this year due to many reasons I have stated on here many a time. Armed with that and no pressure, I went to the game tonight just looking for a good contest. As a result, I really enjoyed my footy this evening. It was a frenetic, end to end affair that held your interest for the most part. The atmosphere in the stadium was electric and loud. It was a fun night.

Sure we can be considered a tab unlucky but the bad calls went both ways and to be honest, The Dogs still looked a class above us. They made life difficult for our outside backs numerous times and easily split us in attack. To our credit, we fought hard and deserved that level up try to finish the game off. However there are still massive problems in both attack and defense and we did well to force the best side in the comp into extra time.

Sure in retrospect, we probably should have won that game…we had many chances to do so including 3 great setups for the drop goal that were squandered....we just werent good enough on the night. In saying this though, we showed a tonne of guts and didnt give up. I am proud of that effort...I think thats only the 4th time this year I have said that.

Interesting observation the dogs split us easily when stats show us missing less tackles making more line breaks and offloads. It was one of those games IMO that the better team lost.

Well said. These comments that the refs cost our season are understandable on the high of the emotion. But the reality is losing to Canberra, Easts, Newcastle, Saints and twice to Souths is what will cost us.

Yeah the dogs didnt play to the usual standard however I thought their crucial plays looked far classier. All our tries were due to determined, hard running within their 20\. Theirs were good ball movement and speed for their own half.

Interesting about those stats, I'll have to check them out. I counted Ellis missing half a dozen in the first half alone. I thought he was bloody aweful defensively. Those stats arent very accurate for mine.

Stats were from nrl app, usually do change but at time of posting that's how it read. Think two less misses 2 more offloads and 2 more line breaks, although another website had line breaks even.

Wouldn't say the dogs were classier and seriously on that performance won't win the comp. we know our defence has been poor all year yet the dogs scored one dodgy try from inside 20m. They arnt going to score three 70m tries in the semis against sides like storm or manly. Not mention to win their next two ( most likely) plus three finals has them at a streak of 17.
