Green Mile

Commentators made an interesting comment last night, if Potter may in fact be saved because of the club drama taking culpability off him and distributing it around - players, captain, board, CEO. That Potter may not be judged by this last month of footy at all.

Jason Talyor is a brilliant tactician I would throw the chq book at him , probable not a head coach though .

I know a lot of you don't like parish but we need someone who is strong enough to stand up to the players, he has been second in charge at manly (winning culture) and origin. I think he will be great but controversial. Griffin would be my first choice, has a good record for youth development, solid footy brain. As far as folks goes, he's a hack and Jason taylor reminds me too much of ricky stuart aka Disaster.

But it comes back to this… Potter has to go.. He's walking the mile...

I have no problem with a disciplinarian as a coach but the problem is Farah and how he reacts to this …as we are now enlightened he is the club. I have never had a problem with Potter not being the coach for 2015 just the methods that have been put in motion.

Very correct

Potter didn't install in them what happened last night That was lack of commitment by the players , it was out of his hands by the time HT came along

But whichever knuckle head decided to run into the wind in the first half needs a good kick up the arse

It was very gusty last night and at least with a young ,inexperienced side it could of helped mentally early on

At least we could of been playing off the front foot with a good kicking game early in the count and a good kick chase

How's fletcher? He seems to be getting the state cup side performing nicely week in week out every year.

State cup side probably goes through the same amount of injuries as us if not more.

Jason Taylor and Nathan Brown are young coaches who have done plenty of years learning their crafts. Had their setbacks along the way. I thjink that is important, that they know how to deal with tough times.

Anthony Griffin would be a good candidate. Seems highly respected. Although maybe he is a bit like Potter, good bloke, quiet etc. I dont know.

LIke i said in a previous thread i don't really care if they keep Potter or not. If they do fine, if they dont bring in someone with no history at the club. Putting one of the rookie assistants in charge would be madness

I think Griffin would be a great option, has shown he has the intestinal fortitude to make tough decisions and I think would be great for our youngsters.

On top of that the broncos have already paid his wage for next year so we may get him cheap for the year and backload him on the hope he gets our young team of guns firing and therefore helps the sponsorship dollars coming in the next couple of years!

Do you guys really think any coach of note would want to come here to the train wreck?

Yes =, Ok maybe not of note. There is no way a Bellemy, Bennett or Hasler would ever be interested.

However Its not like a player where they are over 400 positions up for grabs

There are 16 NRL Head coaching roles.

Coaches would probably be lining up. The ones waiting for an opportunity. I would not give the job to a rookie (Payten, Kidwell). I don't mind it being a young coach, but they need some runs on the board somewhere (Brown, Taylor, Griffin).

Hmm wasn't Parish rooting Raaaaaaaaaaay Hadley's wife?

_edit: appears so_

If he ends up as coach, he probably be more of the same rubbish, and our vocal enemies in the media will grow with Hadley coming on board…

I don't mind the drama so much for entertainment, but we've had our fair share and it's time we became a profession club on and off the field. It's Manly's turn for "club in crisis" mode imo.

Lining up to be hammered by a dysfunctional club and the media - it would be a tough gig for a young coach, just ask Potter.

I like Kimmorley, he seems to be an astute judge of the game. I think he could handle the pressures of coaching, and he was a halfback, so he could guide Brooks and Austin / Moses.

Taylor has shown clearly that he is a good tactician but he cannot cope with the pressures of head coach - in his previous gigs he has turned into a ranting looney like Ricky Stuart.

Taylor would be a fine attack coach if we could get him… uncompromising and a tactician, also be solid in the kicking coach aspect seeing as we lose Richards after next year.

It will be the final proof, for me, of the boys club running the show, if Potter goes, and Skando stays.
Not to mention if Payten gets the job.
But hey, why address the real problems when you can just create more?
Maybe Moltzen could retire and be our Defence coach.
As long as he's willing to get a Certificate I from TAFE.

We need a hard as nails defensive coach, our defence has always been terrible thanks, Steve Folkes please come back

Matt Parish was a terrible player for Balmain and would be a terrible coach for the Wests Tigers.

Brian Smith would clean the joint out, put us back on track, look good all year and choke in the finals

Who knows anymore? Such is the mess at the joint. I just hope it's the NEW board that makes the appointment (if there is to be one). But if the issue is "player discontent" it is certain that not all players will be discontented about the same person and for the same reasons. Whoever it is can't just pretend this saga hasn't happened. They need to be a counsellor, negotiator, HR manager at least initially and then have a football brain and some tactical and analytical nous. Does such a person exist?
