Ground allocations

Can anyone explain to me why, in a year when NSW was supposed to have 2 home games vs QLD's one, why the decider wasn't held in NSW? Every other year, whoever has two home games gets game one and game three, so when the stupid decision was made to give a nsw game to Melbourne, (which by the way qld never do) why want game three in NDW rather than let the decider happen in Qld?
Just another blatant qld favoritism by the nrl.

It's probably to help make it more exciting on the year of the tv deal.. on another note is nsw always the team that has to dedicate on of there matches to Melbourne ?

I am willing to be corrected, but I have a fairly strong belief that qld has never given up a suncorp game. Anyone???

I checked on Wikipedia (hardly the best source of anything) but its has 7 Melbourne games, with 4 being during a year NSW gets two home games (including this year) and the other 3 during years QLD gets two home games.

Of the NSW home years, 1990 / 1994 / 2012 had the last match in QLD while 2006 had the final game in Melbourne.
Qld home years were 1995 / 2009 when the game finished in QLD and 1997 when it was played in NSW.

Interestingly, the 1996 series was a year with 2 home games for NSW, but the final match was played in QLD (the first two were played in NSW).

Ignoring Vic games from ~20 years ago, over the last 10 or more years its been an even spread of both QLD/NSW giving up home games. Its easy enough for anyone to verify.

Nobody is being robbed of home games.

Since the super league war nsw has given up home ground to play in Melbourne twice (06 & 12) qld once (09).
The reason they go there is money.
NSWRL & QRL own origin. Its a huge revenue stream for them. Every even year NSW gets the 2 games, and obviously the $ for 2 games, every odd year Qld gets it.
A few years ago NSWRL handed the management of its games to the NRL. They still get the $ but use the NRL infrastructure (stadium negotiations, logistics, TV, support staff and event coordinators) to do all the grunt work so they don't have to do it.
This year the Vic govt gave the NRL $5million to play the game at docklands giving over $3 mill clear profit to NSWRL once costs were taken out. This is win win for all concerned, it is good for NSWRL cash reserves and gives great exposure for the NRL. (FYI This alone is almost double the earn for NSWRL hosting game 2 at ANZ.)
The NRL made the same offer to QLD who have refused, as they would have to give up one suncorp game for Melbourne or Perth.
So why did NSW play 2 "home" games back to back? For Qld to agree to travel to and play in Melbourne, they insisted on having the deciding game in case NSW won one of the first 2.
With the new commission we may see this situation changed. If not in 2014 we will have one game at docklands or subiaco.

Thanks 900 at least one of my gut feelings was correct - that qld asked for and was given the decider in qld contrary to the way it should have been. Cheers

I have to ask for some semblance of proof that qld "insisted" in having the decider at Suncorp….because honestly it sounds made up.

Call Phillip st, NSWRL at Narrabeen, the NRL or the ARLC, even try QRL. I'm sure they will verify.
