Gus Gould article(2005) re:Media Bashing

"Can't tell write from wrong"
The Sun-Herald. Phil Gould October 9, 2005

Given the recent Tigers/Robbie Farah media bashing interesting to read a 2005 SMH article by Phil Gould expressing his feelings about journalist Phil Rothfield & others.

Article extract …"Columnists such as Phil Rothfield, Rebecca Wilson and radio's Ray Hadley seem to have an obsession with discrediting me.
Their obsession is boring the pants off everybody.
I think Rothfield and Wilson place agendas and personal grievances above readers' needs for informative, accurate and unbiased reporting."

Interesting last paragraph…

"For the record: I love the Roosters. Even if I leave them, and that day hasn't come yet, Nick Politis knows I will never work for another football club. I guaranteed him that a long time ago. I am committed to him for life. Nick, Ricky and I are great friends. The media will never come between us. Rothfield, Wilson and Hadley can choke on that!"

So I wonder what happened there?

Things change, you can have a change of heart, good luck to him, look at Benji as well, there's no law to say you can't change your mind.

Rothfield seems to have an agenda regarding the WT's. Maybe he is trying to deflect attention in regards to the drug culture at his club of choice. He really is a pinhead.

It's exactly this? Much of the early media reporting came from not 1, but 2 Cronulla supporting journos.

The more they attack and take us down a notch, the more their basket case mob escape the attention

We haven't helped ourselves, but it is interesting where most of the early reporting did come from.

As for Gus, a bit like "I'll never play against the Tigers" … Blah. It is what it is. A strong Penrith is good for the game, if Gus wants to be a part of strengthening them good on him. Regardless of 8 year old comments

Gould sought the blessing from Politis to go to the panthers.

cleary, cartwright and flanagan- all relatively successful coaches.

gould has a football mind like none other. there are some big heads in rugby league and gould is probably one of them but he deserves to be cocky with what he has produced.
