Amazing what happens when we dont have the stupid up and in defence. Sliding defence baby was very pretty to watch :righton: :master: :master: :master:

could go the other way and teams start making metres up the middle.

need to start working for each other more.

but agreed, very happy with the defence today. kudos Ivan

Yep thats true. But with mckillrixk and ET we have two really good defensuve players. The other forwards put in nore and wel be sweet. Just need to have confidence in the guy next to you.n

We held our line and didn't make panicked decisions. Today was the first real insight into Ivan Clearly. The way they went wide and we adjusted was so much better than the past. I had confidence we had them covered on so many occasions.

McIlwrick outstanding again today. Agree re: change in defense structure.
Blind Freddy (not Fittler) could see that coming up then sliding together is far more effective.

Thanks Ivan.

Hopefully the start of better things to come.

Easier to win keeping teams to only 2 tries

Exactly what went through my mind…in this day...you keep the opposition to 12 points you win way more than you lose.
Still gave my blood pressure a massive rise at the end; when commentators said we'd won...my reaction was NO WAY...not yet.

Then Brooks re gathers and it's "just hold it"...then he drops it....BOY!!!!

Yes i dont care if they go through the middle as long as we dont get overlapped every set of 6..

We will be fine in the middle anyway. Et And MM were hitting anything that moved un the middle 😂😂

The defence got better throughout the game I thought. First try we gave away was soft, backline was slow at getting across and just threw themselves at the line without actually making any impact.

We generally numbered up well against a bigger, more fancied team who had some momentum coming into today. I thought Cleary's use of the bench was good. Woods didn't seem too bad after playing the first 40\. Our defence on the edges has improved and Chee-Kam and Suli both defended well in the centres, also helps that they have a bit of size and strength in dominating their opponent.

^ absolutely. There both over 100kgs and go hard. I cant wait until chee kam does another preseason, bukks up and slots in the 2nd row. alot of talent.

Anyone noticed frawleys kick on the first tackle trying to catch ourup and in defence? Nofo stayed where he was and easily defused it. Might of worked 3-4 weeks ago..

Much better to watch. In previous weeks could see trys coming from a mile away.. Today on many occasions it looked like we had them covered easily in those same situations. Looking forward to see them build on that and finally our defence may get to a highly competitive level.

Yeah noticed this on a couple of occasions, and 100% it would have caught us out a month ago. Commentators suggested the dogs had probably done some video sessions on us and developed some set plays, and I tend to agree. Think we may find teams out in the coming weeks if we keep up that kind of defence.

Teams won't get away with the same cheap options they're used to seeing us give them.

Amazing what happens when you defend as a team and your attitude to defence is on..

Been done before here at Wests Tigers all to infrequently ..

Start backing it up ..we could be onto something…

When you have players who can have panicky bran-snaps, sliding is probably better than up-and-in. Also doesn't hurt having Naiqama out the centres.
