Halves coach?

Tacky

I know it's a long shot to get someone like Andrew Johns to the club but, we could really use someone to mentor our halves next year, not so much Reynolds but Brooks.

Maybe we can a half that had a long and distinguished career. What is jason Taylor up to these days?

Cleary should be on the phone to Cooper Cronk. If he retires this year we should offer him the job asap

He is working for the Rorters - producing tactics that put 40 points on us.

We know you dislike him - he is gone Harvey, give it a rest.

Matt Johns. Was a Tigers fan (as a kid). I think he was credited as halves coach of the Storm a few years ago.

Brooks needs forwards who will protect him and watch his skills and confidence grow. The only mentor needed at our club is one who can help the coach through migraines inflicted by dumb players making dumb decisions on the field.

Specialist coaches for one position are overrated. I'm sure Cleary and his assistants will be sufficiant enough. Brooks has 2 years or its time to pull the plug.

Yes that's correct Matty worked with Cooper Cronk in his early years at the Storm.
During the off season this year Cooper organised for Munster to go and work with MJ, and as soon as Billy Slater found that out he went too.
Matty would be the ideal halves coach for LB.

If you look at my posts I actually supported him. Maybe Tulson Tilley or Jeff Robson could be approached

Cronk would be the best choice. He has that tactical mind to his halfback role. Honestly I would buy him for 1 year as a player then just leave him as Coach.

I know we tried Kimmorley and his heart was elsewhere.

Positional coaches are exactly what we need. Someone to hone in on our biggest weakness and work it. We definitely need a defense coach to work out Defense specific strategies. A halves coach to work with their positioning and leave the rest to Cleary. JT's biggest mistake wasn't firing RF, it was not understanding that he could not coach defense and freeing himself to do what he did best… Coach the halves.

Personally I'm not sure if we have the means (money) necessary to employ a halves coach, let alone lure someone away like Joey from another club. If we could, Matty Johns would be ideal, his tactical analysis is spot on.

Need something to happen

No doubt brooks is trying hard… he's changed his game and it's obvious... but nothing's coming off...

Brooks has turned into a runner, with no kicking game, no organisational skills and no ability to set up outside runners.

He has basically turned into an undersized forward

Brooks needs to switch to the right IMO. His big play is a step to the left, which doesn't do much for him on the left side of the field. On the right, he will have more space to use it.

We are also playing way too flat and overusing the crash ball.
