I met American some years ago who was an American police officer in a former career. He said they had to have their wits about them all the time. Interestingly he also spoke about how they were allowed to keep weapons seized from crooks for their own use. He quit policing and joined the marines which is how he ended up in Australia where he joined our state police then went to the AFP. He was never interested in returning to the US to work as a police officer, in fact he saw the marines as safer in some ways.

I don't have a problem with the police force Jerry, I am a strong supporter of the NSW police and have the utmost respect for them. I have a number of friends whom are in the NSW police force and I wouldn't have their job for quids. The NSW police (and other Australian states and territories for that matter,) are far better regulated and better trained to deal with strenuous situations.

The proliferation of firearms in the US, coupled with an almost militarised police force is what causes the tension over there. The problems involving the police over there are ingrained in their culture. I believe our cops are far better at handling crime.

American cops have it much worse.They leave our cops for dead.They only seem militiarised cause they deal with such higher levels of scum(each with guns that they use too) every day.They also have left wing biased media that want to crap on cops and falsely call them racist at every opportunity.

Did I ever say that the African Americans looting and rioting was right and fair game? I don't believe I did. They are entitled to protest, but going on a rampage and looting is obviously not the right way to handle things.

Jerry I have been to the US, it's not an opinion formed or warped by media. I seldom listen to what the media says because as you correctly point out, they have their own biases they like to apply whether it be left or right wing.
