I posted before he played for us he would be our best player. The kid has class written all over him and showed it as a junior. The kid we have Simpkin is a better prospect at the same age.
Liddle and Simpkin will work but Simpkin will take over by the end of next year.

Harry is a massive loss but we have the right plan to replace him. Everything Madge does is to a plan. It wouldn’t surprise me in 2022-23 almost all our players got their real start with the Tigers.

Just hoping Liddle stays healthy next year otherwise who we got til Simpkins is ready, MBye/Reynolds?

I think there’s Buckley’s either one is in the 17 next year.

C Smith would be stupid to continue to play on with Cronk and Slater no longer around and his age. Has done everything in the game so only harming his legacy. Harry Grant is a generational player and would get first crack at hooker. B Smith is the perfect bench player as he covers all forward positions and brings on so much energy. Funicanne must be at the end of his career. B Smith would make a great ball playing lock.

It’s call ego and CS has one as big as the MCG.

Grant: I’ll probably retire before Smith does

West Tigers hooker Harry Grant says he can’t see the game without Cameron Smith in it and believes he has done enough in the game to take his time in making a decision about his future

About 1:20 in that video he says, "I'll be in an NRL system next year, whether its ummmm..." trails off and then talks about his contract in Melbourne.
Almost thought he was gonna say 'whether its at the Tigs or at Melbourne' and then stopped himself.

Maybe being hopeful but you'd love to see it

Best case scenario: Cam Smith plays on and Harry invokes his get out clause and stays with us.
Cam then has a season ending injury when he trips over his own feet running out for the first game of the season. Harry leads us to the premiership.

if Smith plays on, Harry's clause then becomes functional and Brandon Smith will be out the door. I don't see him playing on. Smith would single handedly screw Melbourne if he did so.

theres been a few slips like that.

In LL Cool J's video it comes across like tigers doing everything they can to keep him.

I feel he will go down in the club's history as one of the all time great Wests Tigers single-season players. Balmain previously had Ellery Hanley spoke of so legendarily due to his 8 games in 1988. Seeing as that team had success while we have not, Harry won't be remembered on that level. However, I know I speak for us all when I say that we got to witness the start of a wonderful career, one that might end up being spoken of in the same realm as Smith, Slater, Johns, Lockyer, Thurston, etc. We all can appreciate that we played a hand in making sure a legend was able to get his career started.

I hope when he comes back to Leichhardt our fans give him a big ovation.

Someone a few days ago mentioned the possibility of a loan extension for another year for Harry. I think it could be something to be considered by us and Storm if they haven't already.

I don't think the outcome would be that bad for any party:
Cam is happy as he can play on another year and doesn't have to worry about his decision stuffing the club in the long term.
Grant is happy as he can continue playing regular first grade football.
Brandon is happy as he does not have to worry about being further down the pecking order next year.
Storm are happy as Smith can play on and they can work around Grant's get-out clause without losing him.
Tigers are happy as we get Grant for another year when it may not have been the case.

If Storm don't want to keep Momo then why not Talau for a year?( I read somewhere on here that he is one of the players they were after).
This could also work into securing the release for JAC for 2021.

Was just an idea I had, feel free to poke holes in it. Probably plenty I hadn't considered.

I agree with you. I also like the way Harry has spoken about this club and how he has enjoyed his time here. If we only had him for one year, then it was great having him and I wish him well wherever he goes. This is such a different feeling to what I have for Mitchell Moses and Ryan Matterson. They lacked class in the way they left and have since talked the club down.

I want nothing more for him to stay. But do it the right way.

Not like the way Tim Moltzen was handled, very amateurish.

Absolutely. Dragons shot their load with that but we obviously have our blessing and then retracted.

Make sure we are contractually entitled to make a move on him before doing so.

It's a weird scenario, half of me says that Smith is still playing well and he could probably go around again and retire on his own terms, but the other half says that Melbourne is an extremely professional outfit and probably wouldn't hesitate to tap him on the shoulder.

There are a couple of reasons Storm may consider extending the loan deal into 2021.

Firstly, if they were short on outside backs this year, they are even more so next year with Suli leaving and potentially also the Fox. Keeping Momers for another year will help the situation

Secondly, Storm are in a premiership window. Why would Cam Smith, the best player of all time retire, if there's a chance of winning premierships this year and next year. He's a winner and is still at the top of his game. While a seemless transition would be nice, the aim of the gane is to win grand finals.

Thirdly, if Smith does play on, storm have a hooker headache. Grant appartently has a clause to exit. Extending the loan deal is a diplomatic way to avoid an unwanted contact situation and keep Grant happy for another year until Smith retires at the end of next year.

Well it will be interesting too see how he performs against GOAT tomorrow. I am reading into any Hype about retaining more a bonus quality player for this season and got the better end of this deal.

If anything extra happens Bonus.

In two games time he becomes the opposition

I'll appreciate what he did for the club ...but I'll hate him like any other who has left the club

The only redemption is staying or coming back
