Harry interested in buying Wests Tigers

I think it all goes back to supporters want to be assured that the current identity of the club remains the same under Harry ie Wests/Balmain joint venture and that longevity of the club is secure when Harry is no longer with us - cause financially there is no other option that even comes close. For those who bang on about not accepting mediocrity - there is nothing mediocre about Harry. Given the chance I bet other clubs would love to have one of the richest men in the country interested in purchasing their club. Once in a lifetime opportunity crazy not too seriously explore it - imo .

If you look back I initially questioned someone else who stated sponsorship is 100% tax deductible

I also said I may be wrong, yes, I dont understand the tax system, I have better things to do

They were right, sponsorship is 100% tax deductible.

Hard hard business man. That rubbish about everyone winning is just that. He screws suppliers and builds the lowest quality units on the market.

Lots of statements where he says how good he is. Not my kettle of fish. Imagine talking to him in the pub. If not for his money you'd tell him to get off himself.

Has loads of money yet hoards it whilst people die that he could help with as little outlay as us dropping a five cent coin.

Who gets ownership when he dies? The fella is already in his 80s. A condition would need to cover where the club goes upon his death (perhaps to members).

There's always one isn't there …. as Willow said, 99% on here want the best outcome for Wests Tigers .... You must be part of the 1% who want to turn a good discussion into a bun fight.

You could very well be correct. As I said earlier I wasnt too sure about it. Nevertheless, even if it as you say, he still may see it as being feasible to acquire both entities. I'm sure Rozelle Village Group would bite of his hand if he put an offer in.

Harry is a passionate supporter but a businessman first. Don't underestimate his intelligence. I may be incorrect but I believe the reason Harry wants to acquire WT is quite straightforward. Harry is a developer, therefore, if he buys WT he can take over the Victoria Rd project. Upon it's completion, Harry's initial investment to purchase WT will be easily recouped and effectively will probably end up owning the club for nothing. So not a bad way to help the club you love and make money at the same time. If this is his motive, I have no problem with it. It's a win win situation for all parties including the NRL, one less headache club to worry about.

Wests Tigers never owned the Victoria Rd site.

Neither do Balmain anymore.

If he wants to develop the old leagues club site he can purchase it off Rozelle Village, who had it up for sale earlier this year.

Personally I think he is looking for a new project to occupy himself with once he sells Meriton, and the Tigers is something he is passionate about, and something he would feel is a challenge.

Wow, I just got home from a crap day at work and it has all gone away. A bourbon and finding HT wants to buy the tigers has put a massive smile on my face. Let's hope it works out and we can build our own millionaire supporters club like the roosters and broncos who can bring in the third party payments. I don't want to get ahead of myself but geez that would be good.

Usually think your posts are intelligent.

To put this guy down because he is not helping poor people is beyond belief.

How in the hell do you know what he is doing with his money - how do you know he is not giving away millions to people in need - are you his accountant.

A guy comes along and wants to help out the team he follows and loves.

What does he get from some of his teams supporters. SH..!

Why would he bother - God knows.

We need him a lot more than he needs us.

And there's a very simple solution to those that want to turn this into a Balmain V Wests tirade. Hopefully I don't have to ban anyone over this, so consider yourself warned Tigerspirit. Thankfully just about everyone on here is using their commonsense in discussing what is a very topical issue.

What I find frustrating to hear now is that Wests may have been held back from investing money into the JV because of a binding agreement with Balmain, who are on the verge of extinction. Whilst I previously supported Balmain, I'm 100% behind Wests Tigers and simply want to see the club be able to compete in the player market for top talent, and have the infrastructure and facilities which enable it to be a premier club.

Lol. That's a double edged comment Russell. I'll blindly take the nice bit to heart- thanks!

On the other hand, I'm not sure it makes me stupid that I believe nearly all of the super wealthy are scum bags. In my mind it makes me a realist. Living in Africa for a few years changed my perspective on wealth. Yes, my post is judgmental and I don't have all the facts on Harry.

What's in for Wests share?

Further invisibility?

He can buy Balmain s stake?

Come on chief.. The article mentions nothing about diminishing the scope of the magpies involvement in this organisation, HT wants to buy the Wests Tigers outright, not bring back Balmain. This would be a great move for the club, what's the alternative? Have those useless boofheads from the NRL run us? Relocate to Perth?

If Wests magpies are capable of running the Tigers %100 then go for it, as long its someone who has the best interest in the club and is willing to pump money in and make the place work..

Clubs usually move heaven and earth to try and bring millionaire benefactors into the fold.

Just hope ours isn't stupid enough to reject one.
