Liddle or Farah has to be at 9 next year.

Not having a solution d 9 and injuries to key players hurt us during the middle part of the year. Given the big holes in our roster I think you could say it has been a successful year. Ivan is gradually putting the pieces together.

It was in the context that some posters were saying that Farah for this year only then definitely out that I interpreted as even if Jacob was not ready. But when I think of would we force HRH out when Jacob is not properly prepared and another Club picks Farah for peanuts and Farah outplays Liddle like he done to Cook last weekend and costs us vital points. :deadhorse:

But seeing Farah out cold last week and with nothing else to prove if he hung up his boots tonight well done. Imagine how his dad, who escorted him onto the field, felt seeing him like that. I read "somewhere else" one of the posters did a count of how many times that Cammy was tackled in a game and it was only once - he gets rid of the ball one way or another so Cammy can go around safely for years extra.

He is targeted because he is a linchpin. He got an excellent 250th reception and a great game by the boys "for him" - a lot better than Sutton received. He can happily ride off into the sunset any time now.

2018 has been a very good year. Some might say I am easy pleased and set a very low bar,but in my eyes this has been a very good year.
At the start of the year, outside our supporters everyone had us bottom three with plenty thinking wooden spoon. Than we lost our no6 for the best part of a year before a ball was kicked off. Our planned no1 did not work out, we lost our possible centre combo before the start of the season and our no 9 did not come back from surgery as we expected. On top of that we got some very average calls in games that probably should have gone the other way.
Most players have improved, Brooks and Lawrence, two whipping boys on this forum in previous years have been in career best form. For the first time in yonks we have beaten the top sides. I doubt we will make the eight but we will be close.
Off the field we would be close to premiers. Memberships,sponsorships and attendances have all been very strong. This is a big effort for a club who have been down for a few years.
If we can jag a couple of quality recruits, I see this club making some bigger steps next year.

I was looking at the ladder this morning; after 20 matches we are 50% wins.
In the 18 previous seasons, WT have only had better than 50% win rate on 4 occasions (22%), which is obviously an ordinary record. 3/4 of those seasons were finals seasons where are 100% to get past Week 1 and 67% to get past Week 2 of the finals. 2009 we won 50% of matches, but were obviously pushed into 9th by Parra who went all the way to the GF.
So if we win 2/4 of remaining games, which is feasible if unfavoured, we would finish with 12/24 wins and probably miss out on the finals. This year is a little odd in that the Top 8 is very compressed - only 3 wins separate 1st and 8th. In that respect we are quite far off the pace, considering we are 2 wins adrift of 8th and a similar gap separates 8th from 2nd. That also makes it unfortunate for us, as it's difficult to sneak into 8th.
Of all seasons since 2005, 21 teams have finished the season with 50% win record and 14 of those (67%) made the Top 8 - i.e. it's more likely that not. In 2007 Canterbury finished 6th with 50% wins, but in 2006 and 2014 both Warriors and Parra (resp.) finished 10th.
In the same period, 15 teams finished the year with 54% wins (13/24) and 100% of those made the finals (excluding Parra who won 13/24 in 2016 but were docked points for salary cap).
In that respect, Tigers could still miss the 2018 finals quite conceivably with 13/24 wins (3 out of next 4), which has never happened in the last 14 seasons.
All that boils down to say that if we keep going on this trajectory, then 50% wins would be equal 3rd best result of all time for WT, if measured on wins alone. In that respect it would be an achievement, and improvement… possibly a success.

Considering we the lost The Big Three and Liddle in the half-way house it is a reasonable result. Any more famous oldies we can drag in for another season at this level till we get over cap and injury problems well and truly?
No finals = FAIL..
you can put pretty bows around it all you like..
Improvement in defence and attitude is a big positive and something to build on…I think attack suffered from not having a settled 1 6 7 and 9 and the lack of strike out wide for the majority of the season..hard to build any sort of combo when you half rarely got the same 1 6 and 9 two weeks in a row...we have looked better in the last month with Mbye and Farah adding some stability..

It's a immediate fail if we do not make the eight. Given the way we dropped our bundle after the start to the year I would even say that if we get bundled out week 1 of the finals it is still a fail.

There's pleasing signs that the team is competing for full games now instead of drifting in and out (we're not totally over that yet either, but getting there,) defence looks better with only one serious thrashing dealt out this year and we took some pretty big scalps which shows we can mix it with the best when we are at ours.

Not sure you can call it a fail when all things are not equal. For a start we dont all play the same teams twice and the resources of each club are vastly different on and off the field as we all discuss regularly, yet still measure ourselves against them.
I would be measuring more against ourselves and I would say that we are in a far better position this year on and off the field than we were in the previous year, and vastly better than the year before that. Whether that equates to being successful is debatable, but we all have different levels of what a successful year is anyway.
