Again some perspective ....Leigh are bottom of the table and would get pumped by the Dogs by 40 +

Does that makes the passes suddenly not good? Regardless of opponent his vision and execution was very good.

The opposition is 0-6 and has conceded 220 points .....seriously they probably get beaten by Penrith's reggies

No worries the level of opposition doesn't matter....then when he plays the Storm and he has doesn't hit the hype .....

It's been proved that if the opportunity is there he can capitalise... it's something our halfback has struggled with multiple times our season.

Obviously he will have less chances against better teams but if the chance is there he can execute.

Brooks would win Man of Steel three years straight if he moved to ESL. He would eat up the space they give halves.

But that is the issue ...those opportunities are rare at NRL level ...and he will get really targeted in defence

You reckon he will get that type of opportunity when playing Melbourne or Penrith ...maybe once ...if your lucky

The skill to run at the line and set up your outside men is a skill you have regardless of the team your playing. The more I see of him the more snd more I think this will be a huge signing for us.

Those last two passes, he throws those passes in the NRL its a try at the other end and you dont get a TA for those. The opposition matters.

No ...people just blow the expectations of players up to ridiculous levels ..and then when they don't work out then drop on them like a tonne of bricks

It is the same not just with ESL players ...same with NSW Cup players

I hope he does prove to be an excellent signing along with Gildart ...but don't be surprised if Hastings doesn't stack up in the NRL ...and especially against Top 4 sides

Actually I will go the next step ...under the way the current rules are being played out .....Blake Austin maybe a better signing ...strong ...running game ......you can't risk taking him high

3 great passes by Hastings. One thing I notice though, those last two long bullet spiral passes, they are extinct in the NRL now because the outside defences sweat on them for intercepts. They have been replaced by these "harbour bridge" passes in the NRL. In the SL it looks like defences are still hanging back. Not sure he will get that room here.

Bevan French looked like Superman in this video.

100% agree.... There is 1 person on this forum that only just writes negative comments (beyond boring now) and I think its to just piss people off. Understand everyone has there own thoughts but I was of the understanding we are all cheering on the same team. Hastings has been killing it for 2 years now and won the MOS last year but as the saying goes " You can only play who is in front of you"
I 100% think he will improve our team and deserves a shot before we write him off.

Let me be more "situationally specific". Bullet passes like the ones he threw, flat 20-30m passes 5-10m out from the line.... are out in the NRL. Recipe for intercept tries.

Leigh are about as rubbish as Salford was when they signed Hastings, then Hastings took them to a grand final.

Salford and Wigan are at the opposite end of the spectrum, and he thrived in both.

the defensive systems in the NRL compared to SL are vastly different. what I like about Hastings though is that he's got a handy kicking game, decent support play and often picks the right pass. all of that should translate to the NRL, providing he is able to deal with the speed of the game. not saying he's going to be the answer to all our issues, but he is a very skilful footballer.
