Jackson Hastings with 4 try assists and a field goal to help Wigan win 25-12 against Wakefield overnight.

What position he play?

Was listed as fullback but in attack fullback can just about play the same as the halves

He won't displace Laurie and won't displace Brooks. His defence is not good enough for lock. He'd have the impact of a wet lettuce off the interchange with his complete lack of pace. Looks like he'll fit right in.

Do you keep saying that hoping it will be true one day?

Says Hastings number 1 fan

Far from it… but I am a fan of getting a halfback (or anybody) who can ignite our team better than Brooks is doing.
I’m hoping that person is Hastings and, unlike some others, I’ll wait until he’s playing in our colours before deciding he isn’t.
Easy to see some Brooks fans are deriding Hastings before he gets here in the hope he won’t take his spot.
Obviously these people must be supporters of Brooks before WestsTigers if they don’t want what might bring our team success?
I’ve seen 9 years of Brooks to see what little he offers and look forward to him being challenged.
Who knows… might even wake him up.
In that case it we could all be happy.

The fact you are getting excited over Hastings proves you are happy with mediocrity like the Brooks fans you claim. You are no different. You aren’t motivated to see this club get better at all

Or delusional, like a lot of fans I remember were when we signed Reynolds, Packer and Mbye. I can see this one being within the same ilk as the aforementioned, but we’ll see..

I doubt Hastings is on anywhere near the money of those 3. I just don’t see how some see him coming clearly to replace or even put pressure on Brooks. He looks like he could play anywhere. People make stupid comparisons. He's no where near the money of the other blokes

Lol you were the one suggesting he partner AD in the halves. Cakeeater much?

Wrong... again.
The fact you won't even consider giving somebody a chance to improve the team seems like you are the one happy with mediocrity.
And, please don't assume you have any insight into whether i'm excited or unmotivated.
Yes, I look forward to seeing how Hastings goes, because we are stuck in a hole with Brooks.
I also hope this will see the club win more games.
In saying that I'd love nothing more than Brooks play his backside off for the next 6 weeks or so and get us in the semis.
What do you think of our chances?

Part of the reason Hastings was signed was his utility value.. halves, fullback hooker and lock..

Playing fullback with Wigan for a while now

Why do you believe 'some Brooks fans' have not seen what Hastings offers (and I mean just not in senior ranks)?

Just where have I said that?
What I am saying is nobody has seen what he can do in our colours and people like yourself are constantly bagging him.
I am aware I bag Brooks - but I do so having watched him play in our team for 9 years.
We’ll see if you’re right and Hastings can’t tackle, has no speed and was playing in an inferior completion after he’s laced up his boots for us.

You wrote "some Brooks fans are deriding before he gets here".

How do you I have not seen him play juniors?

Hastings represented Aust Schools in 2013. and made his debut in 2014 for the Roosters. Brooks played Aust Schools in 2012 and made his debut for WTs in 2013. Brooks has basically played NRL since then. Hastings has been moved on from two clubs and no NRL club wanted him after that. There have been lots of posts about Hastings' new found maturity. Brooks appears to have had that from the start.

I don't really care if you saw him play juniors, went to school with him or married his sister.
I am looking forward to what he brings to improve the team.
That's all I want to see.
Hopefully we'll get another few signings as well.
As for Brooks displaying maturity from the start?
Lol at that.

Its ? dependant on whether we can tighten our edges defensively . We can score points , but it’s not usually brooks making defensive errors. Something you lose sight on over and over . Apparently brooks is crap because he can’t lead a team to a victory , after giving a team a 30 point head start .
In saying all that , I notice the games have now shifted to something resembling origin this week . Ie. next to no penalties ,and 6 agains and much slower rucks . And I also notice the team who hasn’t won now in 6 weeks took the reigning premiers to the brink .

If we can tackle and play with confidence we can make the 8 . But you keep with the brooks bashing , the guy who’s been in our top 3 players week in week out for most of the season .

Lol you were the one suggesting he partner AD in the halves. Cakeeater much?

That's an opinion - saying he's the same as Reynolds or Packer is just flat out wrong because he hasn't even played yet. I'm watching him play in England and I like what I see and think he and Doueihi would make a good combo

Saying he's on the same coin as Packer or Reynolds is just a lie or that he's even in the same mould of signing. He's in his prime not at the end of his career

Regardless of what anyone thinks of the decision to sign Hastings, he will be here next year. Let's try to be open-minded about what he might bring.

He could be a dud, could be a genius or might just be average - but let's give him a chance to show his wares.

If I was starting a new job I'd hope to be given a chance to show what I can offer without being written off before I arrive.

Exactly, not sure why people want to write him off before he's even got here. Let's give him a chance to show what he's got... it's not like he will be crippling our salary cap or anything

not sure where he plays though
He shouldn't play 6 we have AD
He shouldn't play 7 Brooks is a better half
that leaves 13 or 14

Playing fullback with Wigan for a while now

Wasn’t he signed as we knew Billy Walters would be moving on end of the year?
Seems to me he takes his spot.
But you could argue we had one 2 many utilities with both Billy and Mbye being part of the team.
So aside from replacing Billy, his signing also gives us assurances if Mbye moves on a year early.
Simples.

His playing fullback at the moment?

He’ll be our ‘Nicko Hynes’ or the modern day Kurt Gidley.

Fullback
Centre
Halfback
Five eight
Centre
Lock
Backrower
Hooker.

I’d say he’d be capable of playing all of the above any given game.

For mine he’ll be the first guy picked every week. But his primary spot will be utility.

Part of the reason Hastings was signed was his utility value.. halves, fullback hooker and lock..

Happy for him to have that role. It would be great to see him do well. I just don't want him in the team at the expense of Luke Brooks.

Then that will be up to Luke to play better than Jacko to keep his spot...

What I am saying is nobody has seen what he can do in our colours and people like yourself are constantly bagging him.

I agree with these comments but somehow you seem to make it all about Brooks.

Well, I’m responding to people who don’t want him here because he might take Brooks spot… something I hope he does.

Hope Hastings kills it for us next year in the 7 jumper. I have no doubt sheens would want him there too. As for Brooks after 8 yrs I have seen enough. Hope he moves on to the sharks..

How much better does he have to play though ? Because what you guys are talking about is immortal level play . And there’s only 1 guy going around right now playing at that superhero level and we play him at 5.30 .

not sure where he plays though
He shouldn't play 6 we have AD
He shouldn't play 7 Brooks is a better half
that leaves 13 or 14

I believe we signed Hastings as a 5/8 before AD appeared to show some form in this position. I doubt Brooks would not be 7. AD only went back to 5/8 last week, and had a super game, but it was against a terrible side. Todays game will show if it was a sign of his progress, or not. The opposition will have had time to study his game, and this will be the real test. I hope he kills it, along with the rest of the side.
Wherever Hastings plays, 6, 7,or 9 , he is a good buy.

I'm a great believer in ,- you must earn your spot. The whole team should be picked this way, it is common sense'. Sadly this does'nt happen at the Tigers. The lack of quality backs in our Cup side is a worry, plus some crazy selections.
