Looks like Gildart didn’t make the 17 for England.

I thought he was carrying an injury?

He would have made the team if he wasn't injured.

Hastings / Sheens team went well against England (edited to remove spoiler, sorry).

Interestingly Hastings has also played for England. But the myth coach Bennett picked him in ridiculous positions (he had him on the wing at one stage) so he didn't get a fair crack.

Yes that can stop him.

Thanks. Appreciate the removal.

Just watching him in the Eng v SL all stars. Now its a wierd game of course with one team playing for their country and the other for nothing but what i love is that Hastings doesent shut up. If Luke Broools is too quiet then Hastings is his perfe t partner because he is always pointing and yelling at his team in defence and attack. He is also very involved jumping into dummy half and running - they did mention he runs more then any half in Super League. Also throws a lovely long pass

Yeah, it was the first time I've seen him play. I don't think he is a 13 - doesn't have the pace or tackling ability, but agree he was always talking, organising, pushing players around, and kicking. Looked like he was a general out there - probably made more difficult by the fact his team had only had two training runs before playing. I was really impressed. How it translates the speed of NRL I don't know but he looked like he had a lot of time. The Cleary comparison is a good one - like a half who is just looking around all the time, organising, setting up the next play.

I'm not saying he is as good as Cleary but he seemed very calm out there.

He doesn’t have the pace to play 13 , but can play 6 ? That makes no sense to me sorry . If he’s a yard shy of pace , then 13 seems the most ideal place for him , especially as he will be first receiver anyway , in most sets .

I'm not a league expert but I suppose when I think of the 13 I was thinking of a Connor Watson type, which I thought the club was going for. That sort of agility and speed around the ruck. There was a break and Hastings ran after the back-rower who made it and didn't get close to him, that's how I was judging his pace.

Connor Watson is not a lock man . Thier middle has been rolled more than ours this year , and that’s a big reason . He’s better in short bursts , like a Craig wing type link man . When he plays middle for large chunks , the inevitability of how hard it is takes it’s toll . That type of guy , is better as an explosive influence of the bench when everyone is sucking in the big ones . WhT a lot on here are saying we should do with Jacob Liddle . Essentially what Mbye was supposed to play to start the year , only his explosive bursts have gone the way of the dinosaur , which sux , because I remember when we got him from the dogs , he was leading the league in line breaks from kick returns .

He is a 7, and that is where we should play him, Brooks or no Brooks

Hastings very impressive at 5/8 - very vocal and barking orders, kicked well and solid in defence

Unfortunately brooks can't handle a halves partner taking control, he goes into his shell.
