Surely his wife's age can't be right ??

Unless it's a second wife ??

The former footballer is an ambassador for White Ribbon, which campaigns to stop violence against women. The ex-Canterbury Bulldogs star divorced his first wife Arwa in February 2014 after 13 years of marriage.

Last name I ever expected to see linked to this sort of stuff

Suppose we better wait until it all comes out

You can get charged with assault for spitting on someone

Terribly sad if true.

He was one of the shining lights to come out of the horrendous Bulldogs' Coffs Harbour debarcle.

Seems to be nothing but bad news more frequent in our game these Days…... El Masri, Joey Johns, Lodge etc. A lot of these footballers wouldn't know what an Alarm clock is to go to work.

When is it going to stop?
We are so overdue for some positivity in our game, seems to be nothing but dramas these Days.

In what way was he a shining light in the Coffs saga UD? Didn't he refuse to give a DNA sample on grounds of his religion? for most people that would probably be regarded as 'hindering police' I would have thought. Religion should not come into it one iota when it comes to the law. Poor 'ol Hazam- he was such a pillar of society too some would have you believe. Pfft.
(Not having a go at you by the way UD).

All good Fade to Black. I should clarify that he essentially came out of that a cleanskin.

Having said that - I didn't know about his refusal to give DNA Evidence based on religion - If that is true, that changes things for me somewhat.

Trading to a younger model also doesn't help either.

Yeah UD funnily enough I have just finished reading Steve Price's autobiography and in the chapter detailing the Coffs incident he writes 'Hazem El Masri was the one player that refused to be DNA tested. Hazem told the Sydney Morning Herald at the time… I have built up a reputation that I'm proud of and I felt sick in the stomach when I had to go to a police station over something I had nothing to do with. It was a humiliating and degrading experience just to walk up the stairs". And those stairs are now getting a bit more familiar for our Haz these days I guess!

yes hide behind his, so called faith. he may be guilty he may be not, but iam sick of the do gooders putting poeple from minnority groups on pedastells.

See where Rhys Wesser has been charged for domestic violence now as well, he definitely didn't strike me as someone who would partake in such disgusting behaviour. Goes to show you never can judge a book by its cover.

FORMER rugby league player Rhys Wesser could face jail after he was charged with assaulting a woman during a domestic dispute at his apartment on grand final night.

Wesser, an ex-Penrith Panther, is accused of leaving Simone Kenmore bruised and beaten after a violent assault in which police allege he dragged her down stairs.

Police allege Ms Kenmore, 36, suffered bruising and swelling to her arms and that she had been held down by her neck.

Wesser, a 36-year-old former State of Origin star and Rabbitoh, was listed to appear at Newtown Local Court last Monday, where his lawyer entered pleas of not guilty to two counts of domestic violence-related assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The charges carry a penalty of up to five years in jail.

Court documents state Wesser was arrested at 4.45am on October 5 after police were called to his unit on King St in Newtown by concerned neighbours who reported hearing yelling.

Police will allege Wesser and Ms Kenmore had been drinking together since noon on October 4 at a Newtown pub.

Ms Kenmore told police she had been staying with Wesser and was planning to return home to Adelaide after the weekend.

Then they returned to Wesser’s apartment, an argument broke out about something that happened earlier that day. A police source said neighbours in the unit block called police after becoming concerned about what they could hear happening in Wesser’s apartment.

Ms Kenmore initially refused to give police her account of the incident and was taken to the station, where police applied for an apprehended violence order, the source said.

Ms Kenmore allegedly had bruising and swelling to both arms and had been held down by her neck, the source said.

She later told police what she alleged to have happened and Wesser was charged.

According to police, Ms Kenmore was allegedly dragged down a set of internal stairs.

She is understood to be active in the Aboriginal rights movement.

Wesser retired from first grade rugby league in 2011 after a distinguished career in which he won a premiership with the Panthers in 2003.

It is understood Wesser will not be used as a casual ambassador by the NRL’s One Community Program while the case in ongoing.

He will continue in his role as an indigenous mentor with Souths Cares pending the outcome of court proceedings.

Souths said Wesser “should be afforded the presumption of innocence”.

Mr Murphy said because his client was not a suspect, a court would not allow police to obtain the star winger's DNA.

"The law is very strict in this area," Mr Murphy told reporters today.

"The law will only allow DNA samples from people who are suspects and police must regard them as suspects and their grounds must be reasonable."

He said his client did not object to the request on religious grounds, although he is a devout Muslim.

"There are issues of personal autonomy, human dignity involved in the giving of a sample in these circumstances," Mr Murphy said

So Milky absolutely every other Bulldogs player who agreed to submitting a DNA sample was considered a suspect but Hazem was the only non-suspect? Wow that seems a bit odd. A good lawyer can spin enough BS to supposedly justify anything, OJ Simpson being a case in point.

No they weren't, but they just didn't refuse to be tested. By no means am i defending Hazem or having a go at you.

I think you have it the wrong way around.
Im guessing only the players that were suspects were DNA tested….it says Hazem wasnt a suspect
