Hayne to Titans - Will it impact the Tigers??

How in the hell can they fit him under the salary cap for 2016?
They must already have dispensations from the NRL for this year as theyve had a lot of injuries and would have had to take players from the 2nd tier.
I guess its helps to be part owned by the NRL.
Stayed tuned for some whinges from teams having to play the titans

tigers fans are great at doing that :roll :roll :roll
wait, we play them next week :brick: :brick: :brick:

I think they probably had a dispensation from the NRL not to spend all of their first tier cap this season after the Cherry Evans backflip. Now they're spending it with Hurrell and Hayne. They only have to pay Hayne ~20% of his contract, maybe ~35% for Hurrell.

Yes true, but they will be desperate for someone of that calibre. Which club has a spare million dollars without having to move anyone on?

In 2018? Pretty much every team will. We'll have to pay big money to retain both.

Chuck in Brooks and thats 3 players all off contract at the same time and sure to be getting plenty of interest.

Yep. I don't think we'll be able to keep all three to be honest.
Though it could perhaps explain JT's insistence on a no-nonsense hooker for the halves to play with, as that's all we'll be able to afford moving forward.

Well lets hope Liddle is an 80 minute player, and then youd just need a back up and save some money there.

Titans to make it and deservedly so.
Leaves 1 spot left and 4 teams including us going for it.

Panthers play roosters - i can see an upset there. Titans play warriors , I think Titans. If we win we could be 8th alone. If we lose we could still be equal 8th.

I'm pretty excited to be honest. I don't want Hayne playing for the Titans this weekend either, I want his first touch of the ball as a Titan to end in a wall of black an orange. Jared's welcome home should be a hard day at Campbelltown.

If it's in the rules I don't have a problem with it, no matter how it may impact us.

If the roles were reversed and he was coming to us I'd be praying he'd be getting a start with us ASAP.

How are the Titans that far under the cap they can afford to bring Hayne in???? It cannot possible that a club spends that far under their cap, i just don't understand, it seems rules are abandend as soon as they are not suitable to the situation.

They missed out on DCE but got Tyrone Roberts and Ash Taylor instead (granted on much less money) and then signed McQueen, Peats and Hurrell. I don't' think their former clubs will be contributing much to those contracts so that's 3 rep players they've signed.

Yet they still have a few hundred thousand under the cap? Think they registered him on 250k for the rest of the year.

In any case, who says its a bad thing for us? Who knows what kind of shape or form he's in, not to mention a complete lack of match fitness! He's played what, 100 mins of competitive sport in the past 2 years? He's suddenly going to start playing 80 mins of NRL on a weekly basis, with no preseason, trials or even training sessions with his new team? How arrogant is the guy? He could very well derail the Titans push for the finals, destabilising the existing team, combinations, strategies etc.

I think he'll play wing this year as that's the easiest position to pick up. Just catch, run and tackle.

He will need a full offseason of training been out so long wont be easy to come back if Titans payed $1.2m a season they way overpaid

I agree - I think its good to play them so soon after him arriving - just on what they are paying him they will have to shed a few players to stay under the cap over the next few years.

Back at the Knights, Joel Edwards specialty used to be coming up out of the line and really smashing blokes onto their backs. His first appearances with the Tigers had him hitting like a goon bag, but against the Eels and Dragons he's looked fit and is hitting a bit harder.

If there was a time for Joel to rediscover the smash in his game, it would be heading up the Campbelltown welcoming commitee when we play the Titans next week

We've been waiting for Edwards to deliver, and I want to see hits like this on Hayne, preferably as part of a double team with Chris Lawrence.

Hope they do slot him straight into the top grade, he will be miles off the pace and probably not great for team harmony especially the poor sod who gets dropped. I say he will be a benchie for a few weeks, might even play QLD cup in the Coasts feeder side

Hayne knows Edwards well
