HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

"Thanks for your patience in our reply.
Before I remove your details - I wanted to see if you would be interested in talking with Shaun Mielekamp regarding this situation - he is committed to speaking to Members regarding all that has gone on in the past 2 weeks and giving Members a voice.
Let me know - and I will forward your details on."

Thanks,
Ben

I'm quite impressed by this response!
I'm sure Shaun has for enough on his hands besides having a chat with me but I appreciate it's a possibility.
I'll be putting my cancellation on indefinite hold, it wasn't something I wanted to do anyway.

V’landys said he had to intervene to protect the NRL and Wests Tigers brands.

“A licence is a privilege, a licence to be in the NRL is worth a lot of money,” V’landys said on Thursday. “Naturally, we have our rights under the licence, and we will use those rights if we have to.

“In this case, we didn’t have to because they were professional enough to reach an amicable solution. We appreciate their professionalism in that regard. They gave us an undertaking they won’t dilute the Balmain brand, they are putting the independents back on with Barry as chair.

“It’s the best solution to give the fans confidence before Christmas. And, more importantly, for Benji Marshall and the team. We won’t allow any dilution. If they ever try, it won’t happen. Balmain fans can rest easy it will never happen.”

V’landys felt the reinstatement of the independent directors, particularly O’Farrell, would provide
the club with much-needed stability.
Dickhead....no fn idea

This would be a directive down from HBG to try and reduce the impact of the story to date

This is a good post hammertime 👍, full of genuine heartfelt emotion, and makes me wish I was more articulate to get my words out as good as you've done.
So, all I can do is say it the way I see it.

We all wish both sides of the JV were more united to be winning under the one Wests Tigers banner.

But...I hate to say this, the tail of the tiger has been trying to wag the 90% of the body of the tiger, and that very seldom happens.

Imo, HBG debenture holders are NOT the issue with a shared vision.

The HBG debenture holders and others ARE running us with that shared vision, but they want to stay in control of things and run it their way, which I am pretty sure they are entitled to do.

I'm guessing, the 4 board members that were sacked, as well as Richo, were NOT co-operating in a way the owners wanted them to.

So, the reaction from the Balmain side to the 4 board members being sacked with a possibility of 4 Magpies replacing them is 'let's get rid of the debenture holders in any way possible', 'so we can move on to a "democratic accountable structure''...and...how do we do that...we flood WESTS with people from the Balmain side of the JV and take control.

Then, if any people from the Magpies side dare to complain their told "you're not part of the team".

And I hate to say it, that is happening already. I've been called all sorts of rude names, possibly in an attempt to break my will.
But I will not bend, AND NEITHER WILL THE DEBENTURE HOLDERS as far as I can see.

The march on Saturday from Pratten Park to Wests Leagues club to demonstrate, could well be the start of another war

I hope this hasn't sounded aggressive.
If it does all I can do is apologise in advance, as I had no intention of it sounding that way.

None of what I have written is fantasy on my part as it's all been written in earlier posts on here.
Thanks for the compliment, mate.... and I think we're starting to get to the bottom of your fears here and why you may be defensive of HDB. You're worried that if we change the debenture structure, Balmain will flood HBG membership and change the board composition.

Here's where I think you might need to re-examine. Balmain is dead. There are not two groups, there are three.

Balmain - A very small group of high-profile people who would want to bring them back.
Wests - A small group of fans and HBG group leads that would want to bring them back
WESTS TIGERS - The majority of people who just want to see a club run well, and are happy to pay homage to our past.

So when you talk about Balmain people flooding it, do you mean Wests Tigers? Everyone here has denounced Balmain, there really just isn't the volume of people that would want that to happen.

The debenture holders are not accountable right now - that's our only issue.

Absolute sh#t show. And what an embarrassment. The Chair and board returned (almost) and we sacrificed a class CEO along the way. What was the whole point? I don’t believe the boardroom carnage will never happen again. It took 25 years to get to this. That sort of rot under the ownership structure in place won’t just go away. By what we’ve seen so far, it will continue to simmer and boil over again one day. We need to restore the 4th independent director. I just hope the squad can stay focussed on the pre season and head into 2026 unaffected.

Can we get ASIC forms handed out at the March
I have the letter which I am happy to share on emails with those that want it.

If you PM me I can hand it out. So far about 50 people have filled them in and sent to ASIC.

If you would then like to take to the march and get people to sign than you can.

I live on the Gold Coast and am in Queenstown this weekend for a work event so cannot attend.

It is my belief that if ASIC investigate it will send a strong message to the HBG directors who caused this that we are an intelligent strong united base that will not tolerate their behavior.

The fact that they are reinstating the board highlights that due process was not done and lacked proper purpose.

Did anyone else get a text supposedly from Shaun Mielekamp asking for a suitable time to ring and discuss their membership.

I am guessing that this is in response to my 2nd request for a refund advising that I bought a membership to a football club that was professionally run by an independent board, and what I have received is either defective or not as advertised, which I believe entitles me to a refund under consumer law.
I don't think you requesting a refund has shit all to do with Mielekamp, who is only doing the job all of a sudden because of HBG's incompetence. If it wasn't for them, Richo would still be CEO and you wouldn't have asked for a refund. Getting a text is Shaun's refreshing, very personalised approach to fan engagement and I'd expect if you to talk to him that he'll be quite personable.
