HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

Yep more points for HBG, giving the worst coach in the comp a 5 year extension Lol.
As of now it appears the vast majority of our players are more than happy with Benji as their coach.
Our best chance of getting some stability within our playing roster was to lock in on Benji and make all the players aware he is with us long term.
I’ve stated many times I am not overly impressed with the playing roster we currently have, but it’s decent, has plenty of potential and it would be a total disaster if we started looking for a new coach and had a mass player exodus because of it.
For these reasons we had virtually no other choice other than to go all in with Benji and hope it pays off.
Benji’s strength is no doubt his strong connection and bond with most of the playing group, particular the ones on his favoured list.
That’s not uncommon, human nature says a coach will always get along better with the players on his favoured list that are playing regularly and in a happy state of mind.
The challenge for Benji and an area where I feel he needs to continually improve is his relationships with our fringe players and the ones that are out of favour in regards to form or team selection.
This is an area where the master coaches such as Bennett have always excelled and it quite often pays dividends with struggling or unknown players often excelling when given an opportunity.

I think a little different. Not everything needs to be 10 bucks so everyone can afford it...even at 10 bucks people will complain. Business not a charity. Put the price at what it needs to be to make a profit and survive.

Multiple sell outs last year indicates the price isn't high enough to discourage a full house.
My main point was that it puts it out of reach of many families if that is the starting price for a child and of course West Tigers banging on about it being the family club kind of goes against that.

Let’s wait and see which of our key players actually put pen to paper. I hope Benji has been able to rally his troops.

Apparently board meeting was Monday , do we have an updated
HBG Board
Wests Tigers Board
Anything happening

Judging by the events that happened late last year all the brain dead HBG members not only did not take any notes or pass the information on to anyone they forgot what happened at the meeting.Senility at it's best.Hopefully the cleaners may find some information during cleaning the next day and pass it on.

This doesnt change the fact they were sacked 11 months into their roles. Their reinstatement reinforces how bad the original decision was.

So again, they didnt leave by choice. They were sacked
True, but your point doesn't prove that sacking 4 board members, regardless of how many remain sacked, will affect the players performance on the field, which was the point you were arguing against.

Just trying to get clarity on what you are trying to argue.

Yes and he sounded like he was trying to be very diplomatic and trying to defuse the situation as best as possible.
He’s not going to come out publically and say we were happy to see the back of our former CEO is he ?
Benji was biting his tongue alright but it was HBG that was spared the lashing.

Can’t imagine the following headlines generated by HGB’s actions went down well with Benji and the playing group:

“Seven of the Wests Tigers’ biggest stars have reportedly threatened to walk out if Benji Marshall is sacked or the board makes things so uncomfortable that he quits as head coach.”

Code Sports: “the likes of Jarome Luai, Jahream Bula, Terrell and Taylan May, and the Fainu brothers, Sione, Samuela and Latu could all quit the club if Marshall is shown the door.”

Wide World of Sports: “the Holman Barnes Group – who have been behind the departure of board members and CEO Shane Richardson – has identified former Parramatta Eels coach Brad Arthur as the perfect coach to replace Marshall and bring success to the struggling club.”

This forced Benji to make a public statement as quoted on NRL.com:

“I’m like the fans, what’s happened is such a shock. For us, we’ve built something really good here, and it was quite a shock to happen.”

“We made a plan two years ago, and I’ve got to give credit to Richo for that, because he was a big part of what we’ve done, the squad we’ve built, and I’m sure everyone could see the progress we’ve made on-field,”

HBG subsequently handed Benji a lengthy contract extension that even he was surprised with. As quoted in SMH:

“I’ll be honest, I probably haven’t done [enough] in terms of performance to deserve the extension,”

The absurdity of HBG’s actions are there for everyone to see V. It’s shocking that those responsible are still there. It sends a message that incompetence is tolerated. That’s a stench that won’t go away easily. It may quiet down when the teams winning but it will always be there, simmering away, ready to reignite.
