HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

Do they have to tell you why it happened, no other NRL club puts out a public statement to their fans every time board members change.
Again Shaun and Barry fronted up to assure our fans that everything is ok at this present time.
With all due respect mate, no other club changes board members like this - and especially when the club is improving.

Add to that the fact that many NRL clubs are also privately owned, and not member-owned. Private owners should have more autonomy as they have a natural feedback loop for bad performance (i.e. They lose their own money). HBG directors aren't spending their money.

Shaun and Barry were not the people responsible. This accountability transfer from the board is weak as piss.

We still have some supporters including some on this forum that want to believe our recruitment for last season was down to Richo and the Independent Board Members, nobody else even though the high profile recruits themselves have all publically stated it was Benji that convinced them tn sign with is, nobody else.
While the jury is still out on Benji’s coaching ability, there can be no denying his ability to attract players.
A shocking misrepresentation of the points being made.

Our club wasn't just a mess on the field. You forget all the Wests Tigers board at war articles that drag our club through the mud.

Our off the field has been a disgrace

Reasons that were contradictory & made no sense.
I wouldn't expect an in-depth report to fans on the reasonings for behind the scenes moves by a club board.

They gave a reason for their decision. The minutia of the reasons isn't really for public discussion. What's to say that, by not giving every detail, they are not, in fact, protecting reputations of the people removed?

I know we all say it's 'our club' etc. But if we don't expect a written, word-for-word account of every action the board makes in regard to stadium deals, lunch menu's, club tie design....why do we expect all the details on boardroom movements?

They have given a reason. It has NOT been 'proven' to be unfounded. The decision to reinstate board members has not been explained. That decision does not disprove the reason given- no matter how confusing. There are elements to all of this that we are all simply speculating about- and no amount of hand wringing & nay-saying makes anyone's point more valid than anyone else's.

If the issues were real why couldn’t the HBG turn around & say to PVL this is what transpired, this is what they done which led to their removal & why they won’t be allowed back on the Wests Tigers board? It’s because none of these issues had merit & they crumbled at any little pressure that was applied to them. This was merely a ploy to wiggle back control from a club that was starting to become independent.

Sorry mate- didn't realise you knew what was discussed between PVL & the Tigers.

Wests Tigers Chairman slaps down Darcy Byrne who got it SOOO wrong in attempting to blame HBG for his imaginary ticket prices (its all becoming a bit unhealthy, this anti HBG obsession Darcy)

"Inner west mayor Darcy Byrne has expressed disbelief at the decision of HGB to charge children $75 for a single game ..." - Weekly Times

"Id also like to make it clear that the Wests Tigers are responsible for setting ticket prices ..." - O'Farrell

👉 Barry's Statement
Unhealthy are the sycophants from Wests/HBG coming on here pushing their agenda. Not only do they believe they 'own' the club, they seek to counter anything that discredits them. Apparently they do no wrong.

We are a poorly performing club on the field.

Off the field? Boardroom members aside- are we doing much worse than 80% of the clubs?

Be fair when talking about the coaches too- the one who left did so to coach his son. 3 ex-premiership coaches, Cleary, Madge & Sheens.

I don't remember watching the board members missing tackles or kicking out on the full.

Our years without finals series appearances have more to do with coaches hoping Luke Brooks can be Nathan Cleary than whoever sits at the end of the board room table.

Everyone says we turned things around last season because of independent board members.

Couldn't it have just as easily been Benji getting a better mix of players on the field? Why is Benji's success (of sorts) credited to the off-the-field team instead of the guys on the field?
Come on mate. When things improve on field let's not pretend that people on the board won't make sure to give themselves credit.
