I struggle to get my head around how people still see this as a joint venture. We have really done things wrong if after 25 years thats still the narrative. How we have continually failed to establish this club as purely Wests Tigers is ludicrous, pathetic, shameful, inept, embarrassing and borderline corrupt.
Just give me a powerful Wests Tigers. People can shove their Balmain and Magpies up their......... for all I care.
I don't see a reason a powerful Wests Tigers can't be made up by the foundations of two well funded 'feeder clubs/joint venture clubs' in Wests Magpies & Balmain.
Whoever is put on a Wests Tigers board should have the good of both JV clubs, and Wests Tigers, as the agenda.
The whole idea of the merger, the joint venture, wasn't to eradicate two clubs. It was to SAVE them.
Manly & Norths stuffed it up. St George swallowed Illawarra.
I want our JV to be the shining light on how it SHOULD work.
I'm a long term Balmain Tigers fan. I don't want to see that club obliterated.
But I'm ALSO a Wests Tigers fan- and that is the future.
You can still focus on a future while incorporating the past.
And Wests Ashfield/HBG should be a good guide to any potential investor into a Balmain club. Money can be made in these clubs. It's an investment opportunity.
Remember- Laundy is a Balmain fan.
Triggeboff is a Balmain fan.
Why not sell the idea of hotel sites, clubs, pubs under a Balmain brand, with a 50% share of Wests Tigers, board room positions, an NRL licence...
How many NRL teams are up for sale? If a rich investor wanted in to the NRL- is there an easier path than through Balmain Tigers?
What about....a crowd funded buy-out of Balmain Tigers? Fan owned. You want to be a part of Wests Tigers? Board positions?
I am absolutely NOT advocating the return of failed Balmain board members. Whoever takes that over needs to be smart & full of ideas.
I'm 100% behind an actual JV though.
