HBG takeover, Independent Directors Sacked

Having worked as a direct report to Peter Vlandy's at Racing NSW there is one thing I can tell you with certainty.

Should he decide to act he will bulldoze his way straight through HBG and there will not be squat they can do about it.

The guy is the very definition of cracking a nut with a sledge hammer and once he has made his mind up I have never seen anyone have the ability to change it.

He will have investigated, sort advice and have all of his ducks lined up.

It will be swift, ruthless and done in a way that demonstrates his absolute power. He is well respected and well connected.

In the years I worked for him I never once witnessed him backdown or loose a fight, a lot of that is because he is well prepared and doesn't pick fight he cant win.

Again the above is only relevant should he choose to act, but if he dose he will wipe the floor with HBG.
All PVL will need is his legal advisors to find one breach in the license agreement or another corporate law breach and he will rip'n'tear.

Dennis Burgess
Chairman HBG
Dennis Burgess
Board member WT

Given dear Dennis holds the highest position on the HBG Board and is also on the Wests Tigers Board why

Didn’t HE communicate with the HBG Board on WT decisions

Didn’t HE suggest WT considerations/matters needed to be escalated or referred to the HBG Board

Didn’t HE get SACKED for failing in his ‘duties’ as a director/board member of both boards

Four independents get booted to load up on HBG Reps to take the term independent (and successful) out of the WT vocabulary.

Maybe Rick Wayde again to unleash on his former colleagues!

Yeah any high profile person in attendance will help attract the TV news crews - Sam Kostas, Michael Clarke, Benny & Blocker, Anthony Field 'Blue Wiggle', tennis player WT fans Ash Barty & Jordan Thompson.

Also I reckon race caller & big WT fan Darren Flindell will be having a word to PVL too.
Don't know where Rick would stand in all this. Hopefully he'd be on the side of the angels.

All good questions mate.

They are not owners man. The club members are. These entrenched squatters holding cheap ass debentures are not held accountable and not acting on behalf of their members or the club.

Why do people keep calling these $100 debenture holders owners?!
HBG are the licensed owners of WT's are they not? therefore they are entitled to make decisions like these if they believe they are in the best interests of the club.

So who’s left on the Wests Ts Board - Burgess, Stapleton & Epifania ? Anyone else?

A rocker and two footy heads 👍

Maybe we could entice Barnaby Joyce before Pauline nabs him?

There you have it. In 2030 the heritage deed expires allowing the owners to make a name change.

Although the NRL would be against it, I'd like to know the details around what veto, if any, the NRL could apply in this situation. The NRL provides the licence, however, it is provided to Wests Tigers Pty Ltd. Does it come with naming conditions? Lots of detail that needs filling in. If licensing obligations don't include naming, I'm not sure what can stop them...it's been reported Dennis has crowed about bringing the Magpies back and perhaps this is why he was so confident.

Manly set a precedent with the Northern Eagles, although slightly different circumstances.

The true agenda will come out in the end.

Rick Wayne is a very good man.
He’d be getting on in age, but there would be no issues if he was in charge.

Weird thing is, as I finished reading your post, I found myself humming the theme music to the X-Files 🤷‍♂️

You said it. Do you think this is the best interests of the club or self-interest? There is no mechanism for them to find out, via member's vote, given that they have squatter's rights.

As I said in an earlier post, if these guys were democratically elected by the owners (i.e. members) and they had data to say this was in the best interest of the club, then so be it. But these guys parading around like they own something, acting on their own interests, is something that needs to be fixed.

They are not owners, like someone who actually put up their own cash, they are representatives for members and have a fiduciary duty to act in accordance with that.

HBG are the owners, so they are entitled to make decisions. Are the conditions imposed by the NRL in 2013 - independent directors and KPIs still enforce. If so, will the NRL seek the appointment of new independent directors pretty quickly.
