It isn’t just a rough 10 minutes though….He had a rough 10 minutes, but no worse than Laulilii or Skelton. Maka’s errors just happened to be at the worst possible time.
As others have said, he’s 18 playing a position he doesn’t normally play. A break wouldn’t hurt but I can see why Benji won’t want to drop him.
The lofty heights reached in the trials made him look good and meant SFA unfortunately, think he should be given a break from 1st grade now.It isn’t just a rough 10 minutes though….
He has been average at best in every game he has played this season.
When he was in the centres he refused to set up and use his winger and his defence was poor. Now on the wing, which I thought he may have gone ok at, he was just terrible.
He is a step too slow in everything he does and his strength isn’t at the required level.
He never worked his way up and earned his debut. He doesn’t belong at this level yet.
Lots of potential, be lots more to work on.
Very prophetic; unfortunately it was double knock-ons.a double for makasini Saturday night
But 'for an 18 year old' is not cutting it in first grade and consistently costing us.He probably could use a week or two off just to rest and re-group. I'm not gonna knock him for those two errors, it happens and he's been fine on that front the first few weeks. As I said earlier in the thread, he's been fine in first grade as an 18 year old, which puts him incredibly far ahead of the curve.
Of course he will. Anyone with talent will improve with practice and encouragement. Unfortunately, his repeated errors in defense and attack are seriously costing the team and whereas his mistakes have been masked by wins in the past 3 weeks, last night they cost us the game. You simply cannot carry a player on LPlates indefinitely.Everything he does this year either good or bad is vital experience that he needs for his development as a player.Naturally we all hope it will only be good things that happen but life is not like that.
He is young and learning and realisticaly that is all you can expect but i have no doubt he will be a better and more consistent footballer by the end of the year.Give him time and have patience.
I know, poor buggerVery prophetic; unfortunately it was double knock-ons.
2 costly mistakes yesPlan and simple, had a sh.t game and I agree with what someone else said ,his defensive decision in most games this year have been questionable, his hit ups have been good not great, I don't by into the "he's only 18" either, he's in the team the coach has picked him to play, so get there and do your job , for example if a bloke gets called up he's 25 years old, plays his first 4 games of NRL has a shocker do you say , he's only 25 he's only played 4 games? Nar , he's been given a chance there's room for improvement,so have a couple of weeks in the reserve grade, dominate and get your confidence up and you will be back in the team. Adam Reynolds was the stand out difference unfortunately great kicking game.
