Heamasi Makasini #303

One great game and you guys are already saying he's leaving. Cmon guys, that's some serious sadsack behaviour. Have some faith. We have great management, with a partially independent board that also has the amazing HBG members in it. They will make sure things go smoothly and we have no more internal drama.

There’s no way we let this fall apart. The people now running the club have always delivered and have never let us down.

We were briefly thrown off course during the Ricoh period, when the focus shifted more towards profit than protecting the true identity of this football club.

I’m sure Makasini would prefer this environment in the long term compared to other clubs who have much more money, success and stability etc.

Re Gary Johnston & Jaycar … This is from an article in The Australian by Brent Read in February 2016 ….

Pascoe also revealed the club had reached out to long-term Canterbury sponsor Jaycar, whose agreement with the Bulldogs ends this season.

Jaycar founder Gary Johnston is a long-term Tigers fan but the club faces a battle in winning him over after he insisted he would have no involvement with the Tigers — either as a sponsor or potential private owner of Balmain — until he saw some evidence that the club was moving forward.

Johnston admitted he gave brief thought to making a move on Balmain but opted to keep his powder dry. “I entertained briefly the thought of it last year but frankly I have gone off the idea,” Johnston said.

“At this stage I have no interest in doing it. Wests are always approaching me with a view to sponsoring them. My sponsorship with the Dogs finishes at the end of this year. Wests found out about that and said ‘maybe Gary will sponsor us’. Most of the conversation with Wests has been with a view to sponsoring Wests Tigers.

“At this stage I have basically desisted from that. My reason for that is I have very little faith in Wests Tigers’ management ability. They seem to lurch from crisis to crisis.”

But Pascoe said: “If he has a problem with how the club is run I would be happy to sit down with him.”
Not much has changed in 10 years has it

Isn’t he signed until end of 2028?

So he won’t go to the market prior to Nov 2027….

Whey would be extend now for $550? I’d wait a bit …he might be knocking on Rugby’s door for Suaalii money ($1.5m) in 18 months
No, he signed a 3 year deal in late 2024, which would be for 2025, 2026 and 2027.

Exactly mate. The three wooden spoons were crucial in their plan of long term success as they needed to push out those who were undermining the mighty maggies. Everyone knows we would be a far stronger team if we had a bird on our chest as opposed to a tiger.

Upgrade and extend this kid right now while we have the leverage. The aggressive approach might just send a message to Moses/Bula that this isn’t same old WT.
Give him some of Bula’s coin, if Bula won’t sign today then close the door, this is not an ATM for Isaac Moses!

If Bula is not done before rd 2 I agree we should start planning for life without him, we don’t need the contract dramas affecting another campaign.
