Here we go again - so media reporting Makasini is open to a return to Union after his contract finishes end of 2027. No doubt we will have to put up with this crap for the next 2 years.

He himself said he’s open to it. He won’t stick around. Enjoy him while you can.

$330k a year for this kid is a good deal. Plenty of room for an upgrade over next 2 years and an extension.

I was unsure about him being picked at centre, purely due to his defence. They’ve obviously seen enough at training to know that he can handle it.

I’m excited to see him line up against Purdue who is slight and has made some really bad decisions in defence at centre.

Also, the majority of fans know about Makasini due to his runs on the wing. What they won’t know about him is how unselfish he is and how well he sets up his outside men. Could be a try fest for Laulili.

I think he's actually marking Tom Chester which is a solid start. if it were Purdue I'd be a little concerned if I'm honest as I'm not sure he's ready.

as you say though, his greatest gift is his ability to attract defenders and pass to his man outside. providing we can get some second phase going with some offloads and some decent shapes, he's going to have plenty of opportunities to create points.

Is it smart to offer a wing/centre 1.2 million per year?

He's done nothing yet.

To me, management doesn't want to sign too early and is backing the kid to perform which will just grow that next contract value.

I wish the Tigers wouldn't try to jump in so early with these kids because now we have 2 more years of speculation of our own doing.

He's played 1 NRL game, why on earth would he ever consider signing a contract extension right now? He'd be a fool to even entertain the idea

Plenty of time to sort a possible deal out. Club needs to make sure the team performs and they're in his ear about staying constantly.
