Heath Gibbs snapped up by Tigers

He was spoken about by Nathan Brown as a future NRL player at the Knights. I guess he may be one of our six development players and Cleary believes he can mould him into our NRL team.

Few comparisons with Chance Peni. I actually think he was hard done by and playing better than a number of guys that were being picked in first grade, but never got a shot. May have been 2nd tier cap issues or some other reason, but seems to have been going ok for the force

Agree 100% Pend never got a go and certainly deserved a shot at the top grade when you consider how some other players were going

Reeks of Chance Peni Vol.2

My god we are pathetic

Some people said same thing when we signed Jordan Rankins comparing him to Blake Austin.

I doubt no one on here has seen much of him play so let's trust the coach. Different player and person so can't compare him to past signings that didn't work out.

He seems highly rate and I think we need a few more of these type signings along with established first graders.

Low risk signing is the new cool thing to say around here.
We aren't buying first graders. We're trying to turn rocks into diamonds over and over again.

Would you prefer we bought 30 quality first graders? Wrong club pal, only the Roosters could get close to affording that.

Josh Addo Carr last year was bought on the cheap from Sharks, (and yes we managed it terribly after that and lost him) but point is he came good, well he improved anyway.

Hopefully there's a bigger signing coming soon (and no not Rochow as the bigger signing, hopefully there's another 1).

I'm tired of signing young guys that show promise.
Suli is still an unknown. We threw a ton if money at him and if he comes good eventually, we'll find away to lose him.
We just keeping making the same mistakes with recruitment

Suli has more than justified his price tag. Centre for 3-4 years then move into 2nd row. Im looking forward to next year.

That did worry me signing Suli for that much. We were desperate as then, which explains why we did it. Fingers crossed, but yeah.

Remember though, a lot of our players (Brooks, Lolo, Fonua, Milne, Thompson, Chee Kam, Gamble, Lawrence (will retire) Liddle, Killer, Aloiai) are only on 2 year deals. Sue, Felise, Marsters and MWZ are on 1 year deals.

That's so they can either shine or we upgrade. There is a plan… (or at least I bloody well hope so)

We need to remember Cleary has a history of nurturing young players at the Warriors with Packer, Matulino and co. Our recruitment officer has a good record of success so I have no doubt that Heath Gibbs' has been well assessed. I like this signing and hope there are more of his age and quality.

We seem to do OK at that, it's just that we seldom benefit from it long term as they all split to play elsewhere.

I don't mind paying market value for anyone. It's when we pay overs for 'nobodies' that irks me.

Broses were paid overs when they weren't even first graders.

You should only pay 'overs' for superstars. Thurston, Smith, etc because you know what you are getting, not hoping.

Simple try by Heath Gibbs, he looks the goods in this Newcastle side.

On a similar note, that Newcastle five-eighth is playing really well. He has a lot of potential

Jack Johns, son of Matty

Newastle won the game against the Warriors 70-4\. This potential signing touched the ball about 3 times all game as Newie went through the middle or the right on every attack. He did score a lucky try after a couple of kicks bounced around. Disappointing we didn't get to see much of him when they were running up a cricket score.

Their right centre looked awesome, Johns looked good ,as did their fullback and halfback. But then the warriors have 3 p[layers that only recently turned 17 and are even worse than our nyc boys…

Gibbs played right centre, didn't see much ball though
