He's one of ours how old

Great for the future just wish we could find one for next season running out of time will have to use in house as weak as it will be on right side.
I know I cop a lot of shit for this opinion , but I actually think sukkar has the makings of a serviceable backrower. And I don’t know what more syfarth has to do. I thought he was really starting to show something on the edge the back half of last year .
I don’t think it is as dire as people make out on here . It’s obviously not like the depth at somewhere like the cowboys , but I think it’s better than last year . Last season the names were bigger to sell tickets , but the actual play was pretty horrendous , especially the first half .
I think he could be a placeholder ,until kids like phoenix get old enough . Archie DUNCAN is the other one .

Sukkar I like if he's ready bigger player most of the good ones are that powerful build.

Think he didn’t look out of place on his debut. Looked like he was something to work with. Would like to see him kick on in KoE this year with some time in NRL if he performs well.

16 I think. Playing sg ball this year , so maybe 17. The Magpies are favourites for that comp .
I wouldn’t class them as favourites mate. a lot of year young boys and we’ve lost a stack of talent, namely Large and Isdale. if we run top 6 then it’s been a good year.

Canterbury is the team to beat.

I dunno if that’s true man , a lot of the top edge back rowers spent a lot of time in the backs coming through . They are usually the athletic specimen of the team I agree , but I don’t think there’s like some backrower factory anywhere .
As far as I’m aware the science , and I could be wrong , but the science actually recommends diversity in positions and sports rather than , building an Ivan Drago in a lab .
Basketball , volleyball , AFL , SOCCER , they all have a role to play . Whilst athletically I agree , that especially in 2025 , with guys like Fifita , olakuatu , kikau , Nani , even Fainu,
There’s definitely a prototype , skill set wise kids are better off diversifying their skillset across multiple positions and sports.
I know it’s a different position , but Cleary played football most of his youth , and you just see it sometimes in the way he plays.
Benji , played a lot of basketball , same as jarome . I’m sure there’s a million out there .
Even Michael Jordan , and LeBron James were elite at other sports as kids . There’s something to be said .
There was a bit of tongue in cheek in my post.
I’m an old backrower. Never played any other position.
With the exception of 60+ minute prop forwards, I think all other positions are taken up by Nancy boys.

Agree.

Basically any bigger outside back with a good motor transitions to backrow easily. I could list plenty. It's my belief that if you have the skillset to be a good centre, then its actually easier to apply that skillset closer in as a backrower.

I compare it to kids coming through in soccer. As youngsters the best players get put up front or in the midfield. The elite elite will stay there, but those just behind them end up transitioning their good speed and skill to the defensive positions to progress their careers and push those youngsters who were always defenders out.

Another example is the easy transition halves make when moved to hooker.

Steve Menzies was a winger

Yea , from my experience , a lot of the backs I played with went on to move into the backrow and lock (the ones who were rep level) . Not many forwards made it to be honest . A few massive generational front rowers did obviously .
There was one kid , who was like my regions Payne Hass , was about to debut at 18 for a Sydney club, had some shit go down in the cross , took him years to get back to nrl standard . Played like 10-20 games in the end , but he was as supposed to be a star . Not going to say his name , as I’m not sure if the story is out there , but yea .

Duncan looked really good last year but i think hes at least 2-3 years away from first grade and shouldnt be rushed

Old centeres, they only shift there once they have lost some pace to balance the modern day cap, Amateur wise ,i saw plenty of kids with speed n heart/lust to defend in the centers shifted to 2nd row,2nd row was the last position to be essential in the modern game and its about bloody time

You 'Think he was starting to show something'?
He's been playing NRL for 5 years into his 6th.

How much longer do we need to wait for him to really come on you think?

whatever …. There’s a reason the warriors were keen as to snap him up last time he was off contract . Don’t reply I’m not interested in what you’ve got to say .

He's nowhere close to the physical traits of a Fifita though. More of a Cam Murray build physically. But he's still young and can hopefully keep growing and fill out more, might end up the size of Pole.

Bird would have to be way ahead of Seyfarth for the second row spot. It's a natural fit for him and the most logical gap he can plug. Seyfarth on the bench is about the best he can offer us, if he's starting then we're in big trouble. Bird could be a Luke Lewis type out wide
