Heighington megathread

I'm flabbergasted that Sheens is discussing tactics with players for next year when he should be focused on THIS year. We got close against the Storm and Dogs - we just couldn't get over the line. We're still in the 8 and still have Lawrence, Lote and Payten due back. It's only June. If you have a plan for next year talk about it in the off season, Sheens.

Why do Penrith want Ryan?

The guy is a decent finisher and ability isn't the only thing he has. Penrith could probably improve their image a bit and beau will bring that, and therefore, more sponsor dollars.

The guy is gives 110% and earns his spot. I really don't like that beau gets bagged out. Its undeserved.

Agree with that Hammertime. I will miss Beau if he goes, he is good for our club in many ways.

WE'RE hearing that Leeds and Widnes are the two English Super League teams leading the race for the signature of Wests Tigers workhorse Chris Heighington.

Heighington qualifies for an English passport because of his mother and is an attractive option for the Pommy clubs who would not have to worry about a spot being taken up on their overseas quota.

Despite denials from Tigers officials, Heighington has been told he can sniff around for a deal overseas in 2012.

Heighington is hugely popular at the Tigers and one of the favourites among teammates at Concord.

Meanwhile, Simon Dwyer was still in North Shore Private Hospital yesterday as he underwent further scans to a nerve complaint in his neck.

Adam Blair, the man who is set to take up a huge stash of cash out of the Tigers cap and forced Bryce Gibbs, Andrew Fifita and Todd Payten - and possibly Heighington - to move on, is still to put pen to paper.

Looks like the Daily Telegraph , is determined to stir the pot of trouble in the Tigers camp.

So if this is true and we actually lose Rhino…..what happens if Blair changes his mind?

But we wont lose Heighno…..REMEMBER????????????

Sheens has already guaranteed Heighno a starting spot off the bench when he gave him an "honest answer"and claimed "he's in the mix".

And Humpty has already denied Heighington had permission to negotiate with other clubs, and also rejected the notion that the backrower would be allowed to join a UK Super League club.

Heighno never left us for "the money" before. Knocked back Wayne Bennett's offer to win a premiership and 2 lucrative SuperLeague deals in the past. Why would he now??

http://www.nrlnews.com/2008/05/29/chris-heighington-wests-tigers-contract-agreement-deal-2009-nrl/

Heighno's manager Beavis has also stated "Don't believe everything you see and hear"

Meanwhile, Beavis said Heighington had two offers from Super League clubs and was attracting interest in the NRL after his good form for Wests Tigers this season.

But the Central Coast junior, who travelled five hours by train and bus to get to training when he first joined the joint venture club in 2003, made it clear he wanted to stay at the Tigers.

"If I have to move on I would be very disappointed, so hopefully they can fit me in there somewhere," said Heighington, who indicated he was prepared to move to the front row if necessary. "I'll play on the wing if the Tigers wanted me to. I'm just happy to be playing football, and hopefully things will work out."

Tigers chief executive Steve Noyce said he hoped Heighington would become a one-club player in the mould of former long-serving forwards John Skandalis and Mark O'Neill.

Canberra chief executive Don Furner confirmed the Raiders' interest in Heighington after announcing they had lured Penrith back-rower Nathan Smith home on a three-year contract yesterday.

So what's to worry about?? Heighno is contracted until the END of 2013...

Rhino says he would be happy to play on the wing How about at fullback Couldn't be any worse than any other 2012 options at this stage

This is the best of a very bad situation for me…

I would be murderous if I saw Heighno in another NRL jersy.

The man is a gun.

Gentlemen, Gentlemen (and Ladies). For God's sake leave this topic alone! You're like kids picking at a scab on their knees! Unless I'm wrong this all started because someone's brother saw Heino having a cup of coffee with Phil Gould! It's been picked up by the vile Telegraph because they know that there are a lot of Tiger Supporters out there who are eager for news, any news, about their team and will buy their rag accordingly. Please give it a rest.

To make of all what??

The fact Humpty and Sheens negotiated a 2 year extension with Heighno ONLY around half a year ago??
And now is told he will be likely playing off the bench next year by Sheens??

Heighno loves this club to death. So does Gibbs and Fulton. Those three put everything they have into this club and have ALL been made to feel like they aren't wanted. Forget these three won this club it's maiden premiership. Forget they are ALL contracted beyond 2011\. Forget these three ALL took paycuts to accommodate other players and signings to HELP the club re-build and win ANOTHER title. Forget Fulton took a bullet for the club, made sacrifices and spent some time away to HELP the club.
Some of you fans think you are passionate about this club. Do you really think these three are any less passionate than YOU?? All their lives these guys dreamed of growing up playing for THIS club.

After all is done and dusted, it is US supporters who will STILL be following the team regardless. NOT Humpty or Sheens. The two who continually BS us and treat us like mugs. Do you think those two will give a rats until they get their next gig somewhere else??

I somehow don't…

I understand the club needs to shed players whether it be a watershed or to bring relief to the cap at times. I understand the club can not always keep it's favourite players. I understand footy is a business. I understand their decisions can not always please everybody.
But what i will NEVER understand is the LIES the club is spinning to it's OWN players, media and LIFE LONG SUPPORTERS.

Go and get stuffed Sheens and Humpty!! :rant

P.S. And as for you Old Bllbag, i think you will find there are posts on this board WAY before the "alleged" coffee incident occured....go and find them..

This is becoming beyond a joke, what is going on behind the scenes? I understand were trying to sign Blair, but the players being linked to leaving and those that have, is going a bit too far! Heighno has been one of our best this season imo. Humpty, come out and tell us the truth. If you told him to shop around, tell the fans, i can't stand the lies that are being told to the fans, just tell us whats going on, it has become a farce at Wests Tigers HQ

Should he be an automatic starter just because he "loves the club"?

I'm sure they do love the club. But since we won the premiership we have made the finals ONCE in SIX seasons. We are in the business of winning and we have not been winning. Changes need to be made.

Again, all well and good but the reality of life is that this is a business. IMO Heighington, Fulton and Gibbs are all good/decent first graders but they have not developed into the players most had hoped they would become when the broke through to first grade. They were all touted as future rep players and have not made that extra step up.

Until the club officially comes out and explains what is happening, then you are just making assumptions.
