Heighington megathread

For me it goes back to Heighno having that meeting with Gould. There is only one reason why that would be happening, and it's not to discuss Channel 9\. It's about joining Penrith and what his role would be.

Unfortunately I'm resigned to him leaving, I think another year from Heighno would have been good for WT.

Well my mail is Benji is feigning being upset at management so he doesn't piss his mates off but his quite happy to see a stronger forward pack next year

And that may very well be correct. You'd hope in a way that he did stick up for his mates but as Humphreys supposedly told him you can't run the club's recruitment based on Benji's rental arrangements or his who he's mates with.

And that ties up with Sheen's statement about the forwards being dominated a lot this year.

As much as it pains me to admit it - he's right - for the last couple of years our forwards get dominated too easily - that why we usually have issues with sides like Penrith ( Pritchard anyone ( i know he is a doggy now but thats why we beat the panthers this year)

However if we can build arounf Ellis and Dwyer (hopefully) we will be able to see our backs (Benji, Lawrence, Lote, Aysgford, and all those gun NYC stars) shine!

Keep the Faith guys, keep the Faith!!

Defiant where do you get your mail from? Was it the Butcher, the Baker or the Candlestick Maker?
I think this forum needs to qualify what is considered "Good Mail" e.g straight from one of the first grade players, or straight from Stephen Humphrey's or Tim Sheens etc.

**If you quote good mail as your neighbour knows the 2nd cousin of Stephen Humphreys then there should be an unwritten rule on this forum that the Moderators delete these so called "My mail" posts!**

Come on you guys who oversee this forum as from today let us set a new standard rather than this obvious creative thinking that has taken over like a cancer! I know it must be tough as a Moderator and you guys are doing a good job under the circumstances but limit these peanut quotes.

Ned Kelly what do you want total controlled censorship??? Okay a lot of the stuff that gets posted is bull dust but their also is a lot of stuff that comes to the light of day that would be swept under the carpet if the club had its way. I like reading all the stuff and making my own judgement, you get a feel for who has good info and who dosnt.

Anyway bottom line I would rather have it the way it is now than total censorship or all rumor threads banned unless verified by a JP,a Priest and a rabbi

I guess I am showing my age as I am really tired of the "Gossip-mongering"! At times I feel as though I am reading stuff written by a bunch of young teenage schoolgirls, yet there other times that there is some really strong written dialogue between mature thinking footy fans.

I guess it is the latter that keeps me coming back to this forum as well as the odd piece of accurate inside information provided from genuine sources. But whilst I understand that it is difficult to censor all posts surely the moderators can delete a "MY MAIL IS" post that can't be backed up with a name or reliable source? If they can't keep the gossip for the water cooler then save it for the game day out at Leichhardt or Campbelltown.

How much spare time do you think the mods have NedK?
Maybe you could volunteer to help them as the official 'forum rumour rater'.

It's the internet don;t expect it to be some source of truth. Read it if you want to and then make your own mind up on what you do and don;t pay attention to. Or just don;t read it.

Yes, often Heighno does fall into the trap of running into the markers and making little metres. For some reason he has a tendency to do this, but i think he sticks to it because if he beats the first man, theres plenty of metres to be made in that area and he's shown us this many times. It can be frustrating when the marker does nail him, but overall, Heighno's work is good.

Some will remember i was his harshest critic a few years ago, i wanted him gone from the club and thought he was a myth of a player. But im now really dissapointed to lose him. Sheens is saying he wants a more dominant pack and will move Ellis to lock. But this seems a strange move considering he let 2 front rowers go and has replaced them with unproven kids, i would have thought keeping the experience of Heighno would be a great asset. Heighno is effective in a pack that is often dominated, imagine how effective he would be with a pack that actually wins the battle? His footwork has come back and i can see him making many breaks behind a new look stronger pack.
11.Blair, 12.Ellis, 13.Heighnigton looks a lot more effective than…...11.Blair, 12.Dwyer,13.Ellis.

I'm Brisbane based, and most of my Tigers-info comes from either here, Gibbsy or Liam, so I'll happily admit that most of the time, I'm talking out of my bum when it comes to goss.

That said, I have been given a STRONG tip by someone other than my usual 'sources' that Heighno is 90% signed & delivered to the PANTHERS for next season.

Believe it if you like, or don't- but I've got no reason to make this up. I also have a strong tip that the Vidot talk is actually on the money, talks are in place.

My source is related to one of the Tigers staff, so I'm inclined to believe what I hear.

rhino is only leaving if sheens dosent want him …...wests hold the cards......as for vidot ... cant we manufacture a couple of young finishers from both our junior clubs ?

If I was a betting man I would put a lazy $1.00 on Heighington being at the Tigers in 2012\. I don't think he is going anywhere.

Rhino will go if the tigers release him at present it seem the tigers have decided to retain him but that could all change in a blink if they need cap space and lets face it that what started all this turmoil in the first place, trying to create cap space. I suppose if the right player came onto the market all things could change, but I think the Tigers miss judged how popular Rhino is with the supporters so they have into damage control on this one

I think they will wait on the outcome of Dwyer's prognosis before they make any decisions on Rhino . Losing Moltzen may have saved the Rhino for the meantime

Maybe the information that he was told to look around wasn't as strong a rumour as first thought. Where did that actually come ? Other then a reported meeting with Gould ? I'm a little unsure whether Tiger management would have been swayed by how popular he is with fans. I think it's apossibility he wasn't going to be released in the first place. Who knows. Anyway it appears at this stage after the announcements that have gone on recently, Heighington isn't one of them. So far. Mmmm ?

He is off contract at the end of next season. He would have asked management what there plans are beyond that. He wants to stay but if the club decides not to extend his deal beyond 2012 he may want out.
